Maine Saturday Open Thread

we have one more caucus after this... i suggest the paul supporters who arent eligible to vote leave now and start getting people in the other caucus.... cuase you can say "hey... we get 30 people together and we flip the state" or whatever.... by them all dinner at this point if they just go!

Do whatcha gotta do. Get 'em there people!

Yes, it is. The Maine GOP rigged this and we lost. End of story. There aren't enough people there to pull it off. I hope people enjoyed their long lunch.

I wish Ron Paul had showed up...

it wouldnt have mattered. track record shows for some reason when the chips are down the Ron paul supporters dont show up, I can t understand why? Romney has 50 people show up at his events but gets 30k votes, wtf

At the Washington County Maine GOP Caucus. Circus atmosphere, full house! Voting for Ron Paul in the straw poll

Why the hell are colleges on break late February? I mean I know it's Maine, but it's almost March.

Oh also, it's incredibly convenient how Iowa, New Hampshire, and now Maine were all decided to be held when colleges were on break. But I'm sure it's only a coincidence, that's all it ever could be with the GOP!

the other hancock county caucus should be finished before the washington caucus

who are you lecturing? They moved the event to a time when the two colleges there had gone on break. Yeah, it would be nice if they gave up their plane tickets and vacations and stayed.

But the grassroots had a few hundred of their own confirmed supporters identified on top of what the campaign had. If turnout is truly only 200-250, this represents a massive failure of supporters to follow through on what they promised just hours ago.

LOL In my country national television is just starting to show "Slackers Uprising/Election kitchen (translated in my language "Izborna kuhinja")" by Michael Moore...On another is Incredible Hulk...How appropriate ;)

There is no way around it: This is dissapointing BUT dont give up.

"We've got this, we've got this. No more volunteers needed, we don't want too many cooks in the kitchen."

Correct - but still disappointing. At least to me. We should be the most motivated supporters out there - dragging all our friends family, offering free beer or lunch, our roommates half of the rent for the month, dinner ... pretty RP supporting girls should be inviting desperate guys "so uh, would you like to go to the caucus with me today?" ....

Don't mind me, most RP supporters in Indiana suffer from stir craziness.

No, you're exactly right. Extra GOTV is needed, especially when you need many more people than have ever voted in that caucus.

I've been trying. I've offered to pay $100 to rent 2 tables for 6 or so hours at the closest restaurant/bar. It could be used as a HQ. Ron Paul supporters who are just there with nothing really to do, can go there, talk with the other Ron Paul supporters. Figure out a plan to get voters to the caucus. Talk to the people in the restaurant. Maybe they need a ride to the polls. Or they need to know that the caucus is HAPPENING RIGHT NOW 5 MILES DOWN THIS ROAD. GO THERE NOW, AND COME BACK FOR THE AFTER PARTY. FREE BEER. But no takers on that. Our bag of tricks appears limited. I do think, though, that somebody out there, or many, have been doing this extra GOTV, and maybe keeping it a secret.

We need how many votes? 240? Nice round number. That's in Washington County only. If we do count Rome, etc., we'd have to count Castine. And that means it's not going to be over until March 3. 2 weeks away. And we could have 2 different winners. And we don't know which one it'll be.

We've had a lot of after parties, or victory parties, but, if we win today, if we get more than 240, we will have won the straw poll w/out other post 2/11s. Yay! Victory. But not so fast. There can be more caucuses announced. We really can't even truly relax until March 10, when they make their ruling. And there can be caucuses on March 9, if not March 10. And if we want to win, we win today in Washington by 240, and we make sure that we win Castine on March 3, and win the total post 2/11 not including Washington. On March 10, the GOP will vote on which set of votes they'll take. 1) Including Washington 2) Including Washington Plus other post 2/11. To win, for sure, we'd have to win both Washington by 240 and break even with the other post 2/11

If it makes the GOP crap their pants and kick themselves for what they've done to Ron Paul this cycle, so be it.

Yeah, if Paul isn't the nominee this is exactly what we want to have happen. I'm not saying we should vote for Obama, but certainly don't vote for the GOP candidate, vote 3rd party and let the GOP know it really was NOBP and they lost your vote.

Im writing in RP.. I dont give a fuck... The GOP will learn the hard way

Write-ins aren't usually counted and don't get much notice from parties. A 3rd party vote is a much more tangible loss to the GOP because it gets counted and gives them a percentage they can identify as having abandoned their party to vote 3rd party.
