Maine Republicans blast opponent for World of Warcraft play

uh everyone glosses over the fact she's a self admitted socialist, not someone running for liberty in the office?

I hope she gets skewered in the election.

You should care because what someone does in the privacy of their own home should be of no concern to you whatsoever. And really, pointing out that she's not model thin? Mom apparently didnt love this one enough as a child.

did you even read wtf i said? i asked whether she is running for office to advance the cause of liberty, which is why we are here in the first place, and someone indeed confirmed she is not. in fact, she is a self admitted socialist. read carefully before you bring that wow emo crap on me. i don't care about the fact alone whether she plays wow, in fact, i played some when the game came out but lost interest relatively quickly compared to my other friends. i was more interested in whether she had the time to become informed enough to be running for liberty, and since she did not, all other potential distractions became a negative, but all is revolved around the single fact whether she is a liberty supporter or not. this is why i hate online gamers. whenever you criticize someone unrelated who share their wasteful activity, gamers immediately think you are talking about them and all emo-ness comes out.

Liberty people need to relax on the anti-Socialist hatred; to people who believe that government can be legitimate, "socialist" means, "fair." They perceive that the corporations that currently OWN THE GOVERNMENT are very wealthy (and guilty of polluting the world and starting/profiteering from war and from poor health/toxicity) and that the people actually doing work are scared, broke, and without a future. These are noble and good sentiments for people to have that speak to their desire to see justice done.

After this election season I am totally convinced that the Republicans do not want anyone under 40 in the party.

truth. I think though that it is just the consequence of the power being hoarded into smaller and smaller circles of increasingly delusional, isolated, obsolete social failures.

In my county, our GOP is very much anti-young people. The older people just act as though the only legitimate opinions about anything were formed before 1990, and that any divergence from these views is in fact not a republican viewpoint. They are rigid, old, lonely, miserable sexless haters. And they will not win any elections in this county. And yet, any criticism of them, even if directed toward advancing the party as an electoral force, just goes unheard. Crazy young guy, talking about young people again! Over-ripe fruit that rots even on the branch- would that a storm come, and shake this worm-eaten rot from the branches.

No. Nobody has glossed over that. I'm pretty sure everyone here wants to criticize her for being a socialist. Perhaps the Maine GOP should do that instead of critising her hobbies.

Can't do that. The GOP is just as socialist,, if people really start looking at it. That is why they can only talk about non-issues.

:(

My Guild has struck me as being rather libertarian. Sometimes tribal. sort of a family. Many of them are.(I'm adopted) :D

I think that we need to rethink what "socialist" means to most people. It doesn't mean what it does to Liberty people.

we should enter new info into the matrix:

there are individualist and there are collectivist-
individualism is freedom because you own yourself.
collectivism- you don't own yourself(at least not completely). what are you if you don't own yourself? a slave.

no see thats rather absolute and ridiculous and untrue. How can I own myself as some kind of island of self-reliance? I came out of my moms vagina, after my dads balls cooked me up. I only survived childhood because of the contributions of other people. I don't die when I walk down the road because people decide not to murder me with their vehicles. "Socialists" understand this.

We should be asking why people think socialism is a viable american option, and how to pull this sentiment (it is not based on rational argument) into our movement

owning yourself means you have rights, that is where the ideas of rights come from- otherwise, you just have privileges grants from others because they have more force that you can defend.
you want the jungle or do you want self-ownership?
property is an idea. a very good one for obvious reasons.

I'm aware of that, and still believe socialists deserve liberty. I seek liberty for everyone, not just me.

just making a note that even though i'd be fine with a bunch of people getting together to make each other a slave to another- i wouldn't be fine if the mafia they created decided to force me into their collective. (like the type of situation i find myself in today)

Let me count the ways:

(1) they are sheltered from the human condition, leading to extremely false conclusions about life on this planet
(2) they are historically ignorant of events that came before them
(3) they project their own altruistic ideals on others who actually share no such sentiments
(4) they have a simplified misunderunderstanding of commerce and production.

all true. Nothing on the list though about them being inhuman, or incapable of education, or genetically glued to this or that party or policy. Only that they do not really understand differently. They call themselves socialists though because they think that means "I hate to see poor people without hope wasting in ghettoes while liars and thieves helicopter to country clubs over their heads." That is good sentiment, of good people, that should be appreciated and absorbed, not ridiculed and divided.

and torch-bearer, haha yo I want the jungle. "Far too many are born- for the superfluous, the state was created." But, as a child, again, I was helpless, and required the good will and charity of the industry of others. As a human, I made no decision at all to be alive and therefore really have no individual claim to my personhood. Of course I as a person now, with strong hands and teeth as sharp as my criticism, asserts rights, but they are not some natural property of my existence. Only a projection of my idea of myself relative to the power I sense over myself and my environment.
