Admirable that voices for human rights of women, LGBTQ are being raised but does anyone know why there are no voices being raised for the children in any debates on US war/occupation of Afghanistan?
Granderson: The Taliban's return means death for LGBTQ Afghans. Biden, will you help?

President Biden is held in high regard in the LGBTQ community, largely for his “Meet the Press” interview in 2012, when as vice president he endorsed same-sex marriage ahead of President Obama.
As the boss now, Biden has continued that support: bringing Pride Month celebrations back to the White House and creating an administration with a historic number of LGBTQ appointees and initiatives.
...
Over the last 20 years, young LGBTQ Afghans took it upon themselves to be the vanguard of change, Sadat told me. “They came out to their families. They told their friends. They found love. And it’s a very diverse group of people. People who didn’t have a lot of means and people who did.” Now, he points out, the people with means may be able to escape on their own, but not the others.
Of the Taliban, Sadat said: “They are going to do what the Nazis did to LGBT people. They are going to try to exterminate us.”
Now is the time for the Biden administration to step in. Whether it could have forestalled the swift collapse of the Afghan government this week can be debated. What is less debatable is its moral duty to rescue and resettle LGBTQ people who will be targeted and killed under the Taliban’s rule. The very people Biden said he would seek to protect a few months ago.

The president of the United States says whatever works for him and his left-wing party. One example rarely noted was his decision to turn the Pulse nightclub, an LGBT gathering place in Orlando, Florida, and the scene of a 2016 mass murder of 49 people, into a national memorial.
“Five years ago today in Orlando in the middle of Pride Month,” President Joe Biden announced, “our nation suffered the deadliest attack affecting the LGBTQ+ community in American history, and at the time, the deadliest mass shooting by a single gunman.”
The problem is the mass murder had nothing to do with Pulse being an LGBTQ club. The murder was committed by a radical Muslim, Omar Mateen, looking for any crowded place to kill a large number of Americans. As prosecutors noted during Mateen’s trial, Mateen had wanted to avenge U.S. airstrikes on ISIS in Syria.

“At night we can hear them screaming, but we’re not allowed to do anything about it,” George Buckley Sr told the New York Times.
British soldiers claim Afghan colleagues take drugs and 'touch up the guys they are working with'
21 January 2014
British soldiers have claimed their Afghan colleagues regularly take drugs and sometimes 'touch up the guys they were working with'.
The soldiers made the comments as they raised concerns over the Afghan forces while speaking about the future of the country and whether the NATO mission was a success.
The revelations come as Stanley McChrystal, former US commander General, warned Afghanistan could slip back into civil war if it does not continue to receive support from the West following the withdrawal of most international troops this year.
