The biggest newspaper in the entire Northwest Texas region has a poll today. Ron Paul is still not very well known in this area...YET! He could use some help in this poll. Maybe if he can come on top more people out here would start looking in to him.

scroll all the way to the bottom.

As I post this the standing are:

Who is most likely to win the Republican nomination for President in 2008?
Rudy Giuliani (28%) = 87

Mike Huckabee (27%) = 84

Duncan Hunter (0%) = 1

Alan Keyes (0%) = 1

John McCain (8%) = 24

Ron Paul (12%) = 37

Mitt Romney (8%) = 23

Tom Tancredo (0%) = 1

Fred Thompson (12%) = 36

Someone else (4%) = 12

TOTAL 306

wow, the huckleberries are watching us, as soon as this was mentioned their vote total went up fast

I think he's mostly just unknown out here. About all anyone has ever seen on any of the candidates out here is on the national news. I recently joined the local meetup group. I think some massive signage is in order in the near future.

I know people aren't going to be able to resist, but every time we blow everybody out of the water on these online polls we invalidate the results. It's like the little boy who cried wolf and people just start ignoring you after a while.

How is it that Ron is not known in Texas?

Well, his congressional district is about 500 miles from Lubbock. Texas is a BIG state. I am sure that has a lot to do with it. Heck, I never really heard of him until I saw the piece where Shutthehellupolis said he wasn't going to win. That made me want to go and learn about him, and well, here I am! :)

Lubbock...

I saw my first random bumper sticker on a vehicle today in Lubbock outside of the meet-up group. I wouldn't be surprised if it was someone from the group.

Done. And my vote brought Ron Paul to a tie for 1st with Rudy.

Next!

Edit: Apparently I don't post as fast, though...

We definitely need to get some signs out around the south plains. I wish I had the funds, I would buy up tons of them and get it done. Another forum member here has sent me a big RON PAUL REVOLUTION decal for my vehicle I can't wait to get here.

Ever since I saw some of the ads others have been doing in newspapers, I am wondering if that might not be a bad idea, given the readership and coverage of this paper out here.

Some of the people I have talked to express only a passing interest. It's their feeling that by the time they can do anything, the nominees will already be selected by the states up in the northeast, so what's the use. That's been a common attitude of people I have talked with.

Things definitely looking better than when I first posted. Thanks everyone!

I think we might want to cool the jets a little, but keep an eye on it. That way it looks like resident West Texans made the vote look that way. ;)
