Mike Huckabee is going to make an announcement tonight on Fox News about his plans about a 2016 presidential race.

Hogan Gidley, an aide to the former Arkansas governor, tweeted that Huckabee will share make an announcement at 6 p.m. ET on Special Report with Bret Baier.

.@GovMikeHuckabee to reporters in DC: "If you watch @SpecialReport with @BretBaier tonight I'll make an announcement about my 2016 decision"

Huckabee, who won the 2008 Iowa GOP caucuses, ended his show on Fox in January to explore another presidential campaign. The former governor, who is a favorite of evangelical voters, has said he would make a decision sometime in the spring.

Huckabee, talking with reporters, says watch him on Bret Baier tonight. Will indicate his time frame for making 2016 announcement.

So along with cruz, the huckster will be the other half of the two-pronged attempt to split votes off from Rand.

Huckabee will hurt Cruz and Santorum more than Rand in my opinion

Yeah, I think Huck will keep Santorum out of the race and keep Cruz in single digits. It's more a challenge to Cruz than Rand.

Most social conservatives treat Santorum like the poor man's Huckabee, so I agree with the analysis that Santorum probably won't run now. Huckabee will probably hurt Cruz and maybe Rand to a lesser extent and help Jeb.

If he keeps Mr Sanatorium out I'm all for his running!

And we get decent jams on the campaign trail to boot!

Don't think he will hurt Rand much, so that's good too.

I guess running for and failing to get the GOP only gets you an eight year contract at Fox.

Which makes sense. That's still longer than the average Fox viewer attention span.

8 years = less than a tenth of the number of years their average viewer has spent on the Earth.

If Rand's winning is dependent on who does/does not get in the race then he's already lost.

I think him and Rubio presume America won't vote for another Democrat, so we're seeing mediocre candidates return hoping to be VP or snag a cabinet position out of the Primary debates.

I have an account at hucksarmy from 2007 with a few hundred posts.

The site has been more or less dead for a long time, there are barely any signs of life in his grassroots at this point. If he does decide to run he will probably take votes from Cruz and Carson (and Santorum, obviously). If all of them run the evangelical vote will be massively split

Now you're making me sad. :(

I think Santorum still runs. He's too egotistical not to.

Yeah, he actually believes people liked him. He doesn't understand TPTB just needed him at the last minute to be a token "anti-establishment" LOL! candidate to keep Ron from gaining more momentum. And the friggin sheep bought it, hook line & sinker.

This time around he won't make it far. The moment he actually has to back up his faith with statements, he'll lose the evangelicals.
