I'm involved in energy policy as part of my day job. My job is to stay abreast of policy proposals and industry movements.

That means I attend lots of lobbyist calls. I'm on one right now... So, what do they think of the upcoming administration???

I imagine this is happening with all kinds of special interest groups right now. No discussion of where the money is coming from - just so excited about how much they're going to be getting.

This is pretty sickening.

Free money, crony corporatism and regulatory capture are popular in some circles...

I'd say in most circles. At least at the corporate level. Finding and pleasing customers is hard. And there's always so much competition. Not only with your competitors, but with other industries where people could spend their money. Much easier to convince a congresscritter that you have a good argument they can sell to their constituents on a nice giveaway that benefits your interests.

And with an unlimited checkbook, the high reward/low risk of begging for dollars will never stop.

In fact, the only way to stop a free giveaway in today's environment is to have some competing interest with deep pockets that doesn't want it passed.

It's ironic really. So many of these Fortune 500 companies purport to support ESG principles, but they continue to finance politicians who are bankrupting this country with unsustainable policies.
