LIVE THREAD: WE'RE GOING OVER THE FISCAL CLIFF!

This is insantiy. We've got the nation's "leaders" talking about how we're going to raise enough revenue to support our deadbeat uncle's drinking habit.

Amazing isn't it?

Raise taxes, don't cut any spending...

That's the deal?

This will hurt jobs, which will hurt revenue, and we'll end up even worse than before.

Hey, what have you got against drinking :)

Seriously though, ask the uncle to spend less money. Tell him to switch to boxed wine, bottom shelf blended whiskey or 24oz Steel Reserve.

sure glad i don't have a small business. Probably never will either.

over 450 grand for COUPLES is the level for getting reamed. Look for an increase in divorces within this rate.

This is a great comment from Freerepublic of all places:

-
The Food Stamp President wants to go over the cliff to collapse the economy and then take complete charge as the savior (aka dictator) of the country. He and his staff are complete psychos and anyone would be an idiot to take their word on any deal. Like the last proposed debt ceiling deal, he changed the terms after the deal was announced.

No deal yet , Senate has something, House will review it. Does anybody know what it is they are reviewing ? A copy would be nice....

it will pass but the GOP conference will be split. The Dem votes will ensure it passes. Boehner however might have a lot of people upset with him.

Hope everybody enjoys being 2% poorer.

Thanks Rand and Republicans for opposing the payroll tax cut. What a bunch of yokels

the Senate voted last nite and from what i can gather that Rand did not join the magority?
the House will be under pressure to vote the way the Senate did, as they scramble about...

the senate and house versions of this bill may be too far apart for any morphing after the fact

I think it's silly to all of a sudden call something "fiscal cliff" when we're already 16 trillion in debt.

The phrase is used as an excuse to take more of your money. We are going to hear about these problems every 3-6 months now. There is no danger so long as the petrodollar exists. And the military will bomb as many overseas kids as it takes to make sure the petrodollar remains intact. America owns 66% of the world. There is still stuff for our empire to grab at the slowest pace they can possibly take.

One of the people speaking at the church I went to yesterday called it the "physical cliff." Lol.
