Are they going to be voting today or just discussing?

Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer said they will be voting on it tomorrow.

He also said this:

I told reporters the Audit the Federal Reserve bill is misguided, inserts politics into monetary policy – I will vote against it.

that point is so ******* dumb i can't believe it. spending beyond our means causes the federal reserve to print more money to shore up the deficits which influences monetary policy. how is ANY DECISION MADE BY CONGRESS NOT AN INFLUENCE ON MONETARY POLICY.

Well, Mr. Hoyer, Politics is how monetary policy got started in the first place, have you read the constitution? Probably not.

Oh yes, and gold and silver are only to be legal tender, what's that you're carrying in your back right pocket?

Pathetic, the only way to justify a no vote w/o having to explain why voting no makes any sense whatsoever. Oh, and if anyone round heres hasn't called their rep yet, get your ass into gear.

Have you replied to his tweet? If so, I want to RT yours, and if so, what's the link.

edit: He's just echoing what Bernanke said, record/playback.

This is what Steny Hoyer sent to ALL Democratic members:

Like all other major central banks around the world, the Federal Reserve is an independent central bank, and its monetary policy actions are not subject to approval by the Administration or Congress. While Congress has set out the policy goals the Federal Reserve is to pursue - maximum employment and price stability - the ability of the Federal Reserve to pursue monetary policy independent of political influence is critical to its ability to fulfill its dual mandate.

Moreover, Congress already conducts regular and robust oversight of the Federal Reserve and actually expanded GAO’s audit authority two years ago in the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. It expanded the types of audits GAO may conduct of the Federal Reserve, as well as the data that must be disclosed to the public.

The Federal Reserve’s financial accounts have long been subject to audit both by the GAO and an outside, independent audit firm. This bill impedes the independence of this critical institution.

In order for the Federal Reserve to do its job effectively, it should not be subject to short-term political pressures. The experience during debate on the debt ceiling last summer should demonstrate to the American public that House Republicans cannot be allowed to hold our economy or our critical economic institutions hostage in order to further their extreme agenda.

Members are urged to VOTE NO.

Each to his own. In other news, dollar has been devalued by 97% in the past 99 years.

Hell, gas was $0.17/gal when I was in highschool (late 60's early 70's) and cigarettes $0.32/pack.
Been pretty stable even since then, eh? /sarcasm

And, I could make about $2.00/hr putting up hay, so that would be almost 12 gals of gas for 1 hour of work.

edit: So if I saved that $2.00 for an hour of work in an old sock, and took it out to spend it today....
