Vietnam — Following the announcement of a nearly 50 percent tariff on their imports, Vietnam has immediately entered negotiations with the White House.

President Trump reported a “very productive call” with Vietnam’s Communist Party General Secretary To Lam, during which Lam expressed a willingness to reduce tariffs to zero contingent on the signing of a free trade agreement.

India — India has initiated discussions with the U.S. to address the trade barriers.

Officials are reportedly exploring the possibility of reducing or eliminating tariffs on certain U.S. imports and increasing purchases of American goods.

Israel — Israel wants to negotiate terms and potentially secure exemptions or reductions and has already agreed to scrap all its tariffs on U.S. imports.

Prime Minister Netanyahu will further discuss the issue with Trump on Monday.

European Union (27 countries) — The EU has proposed lowering car tariffs and increasing purchases of U.S. energy and military equipment in an effort to negotiate exemptions and reductions.

Trump has long complained about the EU’s unwilligness to buy American cars.

Japan — Japan has signaled a willingness to negotiate by pledging increased imports of U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) and investments in artificial intelligence.

South Korea — South Korea is looking at possible trade concessions that would involve leveraging strategic sectors like semiconductors to reach a favorable agreement.

Thailand — Facing the prospect of billions in losses, the Thai government is planning to increase imports from the U.S. and reduce tariffs on American products to address the trade imbalance.

Many other countries are also readying trade delegations and concessions to try and win exemptions.

Trump, meanwhile, says that “every country” has called him asking to renegotiate their trade arrangements.

“Every country has called us, that’s the beauty of what we do, we’ve put ourselves in the driving seat,” she said.

”If we’d asked most of these countries to do us a favour, they’d have said no, now they’ll do almost anything for us… the tariffs give us great power to negotiate”.

Wait.... So Trump is happy with manufacturing remaining overseas? He just wanted to bankrupt all the pensions funds as a negotiating tactic?

To return manufacturing the tariffs can never go away... So there is nothing to negotiate over.

Shenanigans like this is why I prefer trade bans. Removes ambiguity of purpose.

LOL

He has not accepted these offers.
And he's not going to agree to anything less than 10%.

If those countries still aren't giving him what he wants, aren't you lying your ass off when you claim they're "caving"?

As usual...
They are offering to lower or eliminate their tariffs, but they want us to eli9minate ours completely.
Trump will get them to lower theirs and keep ours at some level.

Don't play stupid.

It's also true that they are only offering to cut tariffs, not the other cheats they use.
The tariffs will stay or even grow until they agree to play fair, and they will stay at some level to replace the income tax and reindustrialize even then.

I can see a lot of negotiations and better deals for the US

It won't even be an issue after a month or two, but China will be the most difficult to cut a deal with

Obviously Trump had to make the effective date for "reciprocals" in two days stick

I give him credit for playing hardball

LOL @ shItzrael

"We promise to commit fewer false flag terror attacks against the United States".

So what about trade deficits between American states? aren't those unfair?

Also

If Manufacturing returns then imports drop and tariffs can't be used for revenue
If tariffs are the main revenue then manufacturing hasn't returned.
If tariffs are negotiated away neither revenue or manufacturing is achieved.

You only get one.

And why the hell aren't countries allowed to have sales taxes?!?

Or healthcare... Why do we have to eat chlorinated chicken?

Using tariffs to export America's greatest mistakes is bonkers.

1 the Constitution should have allowed states to charge tariffs on goods that had that state as an end destination, but it should have been capped at some fraction of federal international tariffs.
Trade binds communities together economically and politically, we want that between states to some degree, but not so much with foreigners.

2 Not all trade will cease, tariffs will be lowered once other countries play fair, we will manufacture more and still have trade and tariff revenue.

3 A sales tax is a burden on domestic industry, it would be preferable to the income tax and less intrusive, it or excise taxes on the first sale by a manufacturer would be acceptable to finish off the income tax if more revenue is needed after tariffs.

4 Trump has RFK working on making food healthy again, the government is the cause of all the problems in healthcare and needs to get out of it.

5 If you don't want to buy something from America then don't, you can either buy other things from us or we can choose not to buy things from you back.

The boomers told us that if we don't have money saved up for a rainy day, it's our lazy fault. Maybe they should pull their pensions up by their bootstraps?

Spare me the crocodile tears.

Who caved on this one? I guess these aren't the type of industries we want coming back to the US, right?

Trump exempts phones, computers, other electronics from reciprocal tariffs

The Trump administration is exempting electronics such as phones, computers and other electronics from the “reciprocal” tariffs imposed on other nations, including China.

Guidance posted by Customs and Border Protection, which collects duties on imports, indicated roughly 20 products would be excluded from reciprocal tariffs. Those include smartphones, computers, routers and semiconductor chips.

The exemptions could be a break for consumers, who were facing the possibility of paying higher prices on electronics because of steep tariffs imposed on China. It’s also a win for companies like Apple, which manufactures many of its products in China.

And notice that they are not exempt from the minimum 10% tariff or other tariffs, just the reciprocal tariffs.

In other words, no, Trump doesn't care about these critical industries, these abilities, coming back to the U.S. And since he doesn't, neither do you, even though the day before yesterday you considered it vital.

Partisan hypocrisy.

Partisan hypocrisy.
He does and they will.
It's a complex dance to rebuild our industries and not crash the economy, and he's playing it well.
