General Libertarians In Swing States: Can we risk 4 more Obama years by voting for Johnson?

I'm very happy for ya LPA. I'm voting Gary Johnson in VA myself. As far as people writing in Paul, that is voting their conscience. Personally I don't see the point, but a vote is only wasted if you don't believe in it. I'd love for GJ to get 5%, and I think he really would if Ron Paul wasn't "in the race". Unfortunately I don't think he will, but it is worth a shot as much as anything else.

So you'd suggest that Paul + Johnson votes will easily pass the 5% popular vote - though dont think either person will actually hit that mark on their own? A shame they werent on the same ticket if that ends up being true

Now, we have a new topic though my friend, haha. Why not vote Gary Johnson to get that 5%? if he reaches that 5% mark and then in 2016 R.Paul runs as the Libertarian, it would give him a great chance to get his message out to everyone in the country with the added money for one and also the pressure to get him onto the national debates.
Of course I do agree with Paul more than Johnson on a number of issues, the 5% has become a personal goal and in fact since my last message, I have already set up a lunch with two close friends to talk with them about the election - so i will do my best to get people to those polls!
It took 54 pages, but it was worth it.

Bring on the next soon-to-be-ex romney supporter! :toady:

If a vote won't be counted, it's wasted. To feel proud and smug might feel good, but it doesn't really get anything done.

I think a vote for Gary Johnson accomplishes a similar "protest" vote as for Ron Paul, but a vote for Gary Johnson is guaranteed to be counted, (and not counted as "other"), and it also has the potential to bring about the end of the two-party system. That last part is a really big deal.

One segment of voters that gets me are the pro-life ones who won't vote for Gary Johnson even though his stance on the issue has basically the same result as Ron Paul's stance on the issue: leave it to the states.

I think its possible. I also think that Ron Paul dropping out of the race got a lot of people to simply give up. Once they gave up, they didn't really look into alternative choices like Johnson. I think of Paul had taken the LP nomination he would have absolutely gotten over 5% though no question. Johnson is good enough I think, but Ron Paul is a superstar.

If a vote won't be counted, it's wasted. To feel proud and smug might feel good, but it doesn't really get anything done.

If somebody's vote has to make a difference in the outcome of the election, then all votes are wasted, because nobody's vote will make a difference, no matter how they vote.

Feeling proud and smug and whatever other feeling anyone might have is the only reward for a GJ vote, or a Romney vote, or an Obama vote, just as much as it is for a Ron Paul vote.

I never said i would make it easy. lol

but very glad to have found this forum. I talked with two people today at lunch and have 1 of the 2 already change to G.J. -- both were romney and one is staying romney but promised he would not vote until after work tomorrow so that we can talk more tomorrow morning. That makes 2 and maybe 3 and I will be talking to more people as much as i can until polls close!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!
oh please tell me you are only joking, because if so this is funny, if not its just sad!!!

Yeah yeah heard it many times how "crazy" us folks that see patterns and connect the dots are. Glad you're entertained. Lord knows you've entertained a lot of us already.

If you are serious about this, I would enjoy hearing your top 5 list of other Conspiracy Theories that you subscribe to. It would give me something else to laugh about on this cloudy Monday.

Here's one. Romney shills come here leading up to the general election acting like Paul supporters or "undecideds", while subtly trying to influence members to vote for the status quo plastic man. They create sock puppet accounts to argue against each other and other confirmed troll activity. That's just so crrrrrazy! I fully expect you'll be long gone from this forum after tomorrow. Another crazy conspiracy theory....

you may want to go back to 1st grade and learn to connect better dots.

One guy named Lou from PA and another guy named Lou some place in the world are both on the same forum....oh my gosh, what are the odds!!!!
Do you think there could be a third person named Lou on here? Oh my gosh i bet that has to be me too!!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! Any other dots you wanted to miss? ....i mean connect? LOL!!!

You dont think there could be two people named Chris on this forum, can there be? Oh my gosh i bet they are the EXACT same person if so!!!!

That's right, laugh it off. Those crazy conspiracy theorists calling out textbook troll behavior! Maybe I could put up a poll in the off topic forum asking how many people are named Lou on this forum? Then once we widdle down that characteristic, we can post another poll asking how many here named Lou currently support or ever supported Romney? It's pretty clear that you (Lou) and CaptLou would be the only ones based solely on the odds. You think Im basing this on your name alone? It's also based on behavior/post content. Will you be an active forum member after tomorrow? You can prove me wrong by sticking around and learning more about libertarianism on this forum. If you disappear, which is what I fully expect, you'll just confirm that you're trolling.

Emmmm emmmmm smug... wonder if I can make jelly out of it. Guess I'll try to make some Smug Jelly tomorrow.

As bad as Obama is on foreign policy, all signs show Romney writing Israel a blank check for WW3

HAHAHA you have no proof at all which makes it a conspiracy theory---not text book.
And if I was really trying some "scam" I would not have included my name in my original post AND included my name in a 2nd nick name -- i would have easily made up any other name.....maybe something like devil22 or something unique. hahaha but yes i think its very funny that you went back to my original post and started to pretend to connect the dots -- though i must say you already had a conspiracy theory about me working directly for Mitt a couple days ago.

and i wont let one bad apple (you) mess this up for all the others on here who are open to debate and who actually helped me learn lots about the movement - clearly youd rather fight and argue than get others to join you....not a great spokesman. Lets hope you keep your anger in check and let the calm/rational people discuss their views with the population as a whole.

I no longer support Romney and will be voting for Gary Johnson - but I don't see "all" these signs about the WW3...that sounds a bit much to me. I don't doubt the war Romney may get us into (just as Obama would do in his second term...as he did in his first term already -- twice!), but WW3 is a bit overly dramatic in my opinon.

Haha, you're a good person Dr3D!
no need to make jelly out of it, I'm moving on, just don't care for the devil's attitude and comments.

Tell me Dr3D (and you may have said this before), are you placing a vote for G.J. or R.P.? Personally I am going for G.J. and hoping somehow, some way, we can get him to that 5% mark. I already talked with 2 people at lunch, talked to 1 person after work and have talked with my wife tonight. of those 4 total people i have 3 who agreed to vote for G.J. and the other 1 person who likes Romney has promised to vote after work so we can talk tomorrow a bit more -- I hope to get that person plus more at work tomorrow....really working hard at that 5% number!!!

I am going to vote for Ron Paul. Of course in my state it won't count except as the under vote, but somehow I have to get enough smug to make that jelly I want to try.

You own your own business and are talking to your own employees and trying to convince them to vote a certain way? HMM.

No way would I work for someone like him. Lord save me if I'm in a mere disagreement with him, let alone voting for someone other than Obama/Romney.

my boss does the same thing. (he'd fire you if you were openly democrat)
well, he did the same thing until I shouted him down when he started with the vote romney bullshit.
I contend that i didn't yell at him, but was adamant in my position. everyone else said I yelled at my boss like he was lil' bitch.
somehow i'm still employed there.

No I can't do that....I would think there is something almost illegal about that.
I work parttime at a company but also own my own small business out of my home (its similar to 1 and a half jobs -- need to pay the bills)
