Libertarian Party Selects Gary Johnson As Presidential Nominee

Well, looky here. He also participated in the CFR's Building a North American Community task force, along with Heidi Cruz. How quaint.

EDIT: Hell, he even CHAIRED it. "Chairs: John P. Manley, Pedro Aspe, and William F. Weld". Ugh. Not good; not good at all.

Yep, as I predicted.

The Libertarian party is now an impediment to libertarian values, and the press will proudly point to "force them to bake Nazi cakes" Johnson, all for love of his homosexuality - a caricature of libertarianism, and will say this - this is true libertarianism.

I honestly can't think of a worse ticket. I had hoped beyond hope that Peterson and McAfee might have come together on round two.
Worse ticket for what? Being the first LP ticket that will most likely get into the presidential debates and then inevitably getting the most votes for an LP ticket, or pleasing the handful of die-hards in our relatively small party?

This is about as bad as it gets for the L's. Maybe only Bob Barr was worse.

Weld JUST SAID ON CNN that he is friends with the...CLINTONS! Jesus, you never go FULL STATIST! Come on!

WTH is that avatar pic? I need to see it enlarged.

It's supposed to be Trump with the Immortan Joe mask from Mad Max. lol

Not sure if I can display it bigger.

Johnson/Weld will not get in the debates. I'll put a hunny on it. That ticket lost about half of the LP vote. Which wasn't much to start with. And, I'm sorry to speak truth, ain't gonna draw the never Trump/never Hillaty vote.

I guess the VP is elected by the Libertarian Party? Not chosen by Johnson? That seems weird.

A little of both. The VP is elected but the Presidential Nominee has a lot to say about it. So under most normal circumstances they are liable to get their pick....but Libertarians can be weird so you never really know.

He had some interesting debate answers on foreign policy.

Bill Kristol joining the LP could bring some much needed establishment and MIC money. He could also bring in credible candidates. Imagine a Sasse/Cotton ticket. Or Rubio/Sasse. Or Rubio/Ayotte. Or Cotton/Cheney (Liz). The possibilities are endless. The LP would have more success than ever. A truly viable third Party.

5 percent, 5 percent, my principles for 5 percent.

Which is stupid because 5% is basically nothing anyhow....

No, it's a big deal. It qualifies the LP for federal matching funds. They would have the money to run national ads for their 2020 candidate, they would have ballot access and a primary/caucus in all states.

Gary has said a few really stupid things, and I know almost nothing good about Weld, but I'll probably vote for them. If they run a reasonable campaign over the summer maybe I'll even put a yard sign up.

Johnson doesn't really inspire me to campaign for him either.
couple bumper stickers for me. these two are so much better than the alternatives that'll be on my ballot, but I wish they were better ideological libertarians.
