Libertarian Party attacks the Paul family

The LP is one of those organizations that exist to provide jobs for the people running it, and nothing else. It's the political equivalent of a charity that spends all its money on administration and fundraising.
 
Should check to see if there are any closet neocons are wearing label of "libertarian", there are things like that. Examples Bill Maher, Bill O'Really etc.
 
Meh, they are an opposing political party. That is what they are supposed to do. With how much Rand has moderated all his views and talking points the Libertarian party does offer a very different alternative, which is good. I probably will end up voting for them in the general election unless they pick a shit candidate like Bob Barr again.
 
It's one thing to call Rand unlibertarian. It's another thing to warp the Pauls as some political dynasty that has establishment ties.


He is the big irony in all of this: Libertarians are criticizing Rand for playing politics, but this is clearly one of the most political acts in recent history.
 
LOL. I remember how some folks around here (*cough* BlackTerrel *cough*) used to claim that Alex Jones and the conspiracy theorists would turn against the Pauls if they ever got close to winning. Instead AJ went off, as many of us did, for the Rick Perry endorsement, but eventually calmed down and accepted Rand Paul as our last best hope for liberty. But the "mainstream" Libertarian Party is stuck on stupid. I might give them a little bit of credit if they hadn't nominated Bob Barr and Gary Johnson. And Gary Johnson can go to hell with his crap about being pro-abortion is the "libertarian" position.

not having the stink of the 'official' libertariian party rubbing off on Rand will get tea-o-cons, and the extremist evangelical right wing to look at Rand as a viable candidate....
 
They're probably just trying to increase traffic, one way, or the other.

I could not vote for GJ due to the abortion issue and used to think what a shame. Now a days every time I hear his name I equate him to being a dick on that issue.
 
They had no trouble riding the publicity wave with the Pauls, now they attempt to act all morally superior.
 
Libertarian Party has long been infiltrated (if it wasn't originally created) by the opposition long ago to "divide and conquer". Bob "CIA" Barr should have been a red flag to everyone. If that wasn't, becoming an enemy of the Paul's should drive that message home today.
 
Rand must REALLY be scaring the crap out of the opposition to allow the Libertarian Party to self implode like this. So many pissed off Libertarians in the facebook comments. I love it!
 
Rand Paul is not a Libertarian, so I don't know why its such a shock that they put out this ad. It actually makes a good point, Jeb, Rand, and Hillary are all running on name recognition that comes from the coattails of their family members that they are riding in on. Exactly why would the Libertarian party support Rand, when he claims himself that he's not a libertarian and likens them to pot-smoking nudists? They are a political party who are trying to get as many votes as possible, why the hell should they support a GOP candidate?

What are they supposed to do? Endorse Rand Paul? By his own admission, he's not a small L or little l libertarian. The party has to make sure that people understand that, so that they can remain relevant. (although it's debatable if they have ever been relevant). There are some true libertarians who hope that they will run a decent candidate, so that we can have an actual candidate to support who will endorse libertarian issues. Rand Paul is clearly not going to do that, especially as he tries to win a GOP nomination.

I can respect being a purist but the LP is not purist and hasn't been for a long time.
