By the looks of it I would guess he designed his site circa 1995. I would also assume he hasn't touched it since, but I do see there are recent articles.

Can someone introduce him to Wordpress or something because his page just looks sloppy and it hurts my eyes to look at it... and I'm not just exaggerating.

Agreed. It's atrocious in terms of design appeal. Lacks any sort of formal structure, elements are just added at arbitrary whim. I could whip up something far more elegant, but programming is always a hassle.

It is kind of sloppy, but it has a certain charm to it. The archives are better organized than the main page.

Now I'm gonna have to read that site tonight, like I do every night, with a more jaundiced eye. I guess the design of it has never bothered me a bit, and I've been a regular reader for at least four or five years now.

It's prehistoric looking. I agree. But it's the most successful Libertarian website in the world... He's doing something right.

I'd go out on a limb to assume that his readership is probably an older demographic than any other Libertarian site as well. I'll bet dudes in their 60's pry like his simple format just fine.

We may be wise to mimic that kind of success...

Well, I just emailed him and offered my design and coding services no charge. We'll see what he says.

Simple is sometimes successful. I think is why LewRockwell and Drudge are so great. There are sites I've stopped visiting because their redesigns add way too much Flash and social networking buttons that slows things down to a crawl.

Considering Lew's view on IP, anyone could probably set up a site that automatically republishes his content and makes it more pleasing to the eye. Enabling comments would also be a great idea...

Another example is Roderick Longs websites, they look like someone horribly abused the geocities pagebuilder, although like Lew Rockwell, one of the most informative sites out there.

If you've never been to Longs site, it's praxeology.net

Haha, good idea.

The problem is that he might get permission to post some articles only on his site. The copyright mafia might prosecute you even if Lew has nothing to do with it.

I like it just the way it is, simple, minimalist and uncluttered by shiny geegaws and eye candy.

Like the philosophy itself.

Let Lady Gaga and the NFL and NASCAR have the multi level web content with half a million distractions.

I enjoy the clean, crisp feel of his website to tell you the truth. Its a refreshing change from all the JUNK wordpress themes out there.

It may not be flashy, but it's easy to read.

Initially I didn't like the design, but now I'm quite fond of it. The homepage needs some work, I think, but all of the blog pages I adore. Simplistic and straight to the point.
