Let's see how far this tax protestor/ evader goes with arguments

You need to be very careful when you say things like this. The IRS sometimes lets people who sell books and tapes slide for a number of years before landing on them with both feet. And anyone who followed them gets swept up in the aftermath. It makes no difference whether they are technically correct about what the law says. You cannot stand up to a rigged court system and that's where you'll end up. You will be fighting the judge, a scared to death jury, the IRS agent, the prosecutor, and your own scared attorney. How do I know this? Because I used to know Irwin Schiff pretty well. And guess where he ended up? And it's likely until the day he dies. He was technically correct in just about everything he said. And people who took his advice ended up with a lot of pain and broken lives.

When the government has big guns and a cowed populace to bully, keep your head down unless you want it cut off. Do I sound like a chicken? Yeah, a live chicken. A lot of people I know are not alive or wish they weren't.

Yeah, thanks, call me a coward, chicken or slave, be the brave "live free or die" type if you want. It's not that I either abide by all laws or cherry pick what I like, but I try to abide by all laws that the powers seek to enforce. "know thy enemy" and play their game, that's how I stay alive

I've read through most of this thread and skimmed through some posts to see if anyone else picked up on this. The article OP posted is talking about someone not paying their real estate taxes. This is a city/state issue, NOT a Federal one. Ron Paul would side with this guy in that he is participating in civil disobedience, but he will have to deal with the consequences later. I have no comment when the article talks about illegal immigration, but this other "sovereign citizen" getting arrested for a DUI/DWI and driving a complete dumbass. I highly doubt that potentially doing harm to others an inalienable right.
ha, you'd be surprised how many people here advocate legalizing DUI. or some even say abolish all laws related to driving.

you need to read judge Andrew Napolitanos new book "its dangerous to be right when the government is wrong" but esspecially need to read "the Law" by Frederick Bastiat here is the free version it is required reading for all liberty supporters http://mises.org/books/thelaw.pdf .

I would say its more like you are cherry picking what Natural rights the governemnt isnt allowed to infringe upon. i will pay for whatever servicies the government provides for me but i dont want to be bled of my income to pay for someone elses childs school or to pay to throw people in jail to keep them from doing drugs or to give random people across the country welfare. thats where the govt. infringes on my Natural rights and i make no exceptions for the government infringing on my natural rights.

what's a law you disobey, want to share? Unless you are telling me that Napolitano's book, or Bastiat's philosophy has won a person's court case, I won't take it as legal advice, but I'm sure it's entertaining reading.

Some here have a misconception about RP's message. :p DUI crimes aren't a federal issue unless it's done on Federal Land (i.e, military installations, national parks, etc.)

Why would he share that with you? You asked me to share, and then you ignored it. You aren't really interested in discussion, you're interested in riling people up, Walt. Hit and run, hit and run. What's more, this subject isn't even conceivably interesting or challenging. Go tell people how to live their lives somewhere else. We brave "live free or die" types don't like it and won't listen to you. Of course, that's why you keep coming back to poke at us.

I apologize, I didn't see that, I went back and looked.

Selective Service, I am not aware of people who have actually be prosecuted or fined for it, so maybe that's why you have not, its one of those laws that not even the government wants to enforce, which is my point. Is there a law you know you'll get heavily fined, imprisoned for, and still openly declare your refusal? Yes, I moved the goal post, I should've started with this one. Most people who say "I don't pay income taxes" are either not making enough to matter, or won't say it loudly (not accusing you).

Im not telling you how to live, but if you ever get in trouble, I promise I'll laugh at you.

people here who oppose DUI laws dont care if its federal or state, they just want no laws on it whatsoever.

You keep paying the IRS mafia what you don't owe them and I will laugh even harder at you for being scared enough to not get the money owed you back because your fear that standing up in any way for your rights will get you slammed in the hoosegaw.

You lose. You can stop trolling now because you are at the bottom of your own pile-on.

how much do you make and how much do you not pay them? Please tell me if you're so confident you did nothing wrong.

Please, someone tell me how REAL ESTATE TAXES and FEDERAL INCOME TAXES are related?!!

for this story's purpose, they're related only in the way that they are protested & evaded.

"saying the government can’t tell him what to do."

According to the Platte County Prosecutor’s Office, when David Mael of Kansas City North was pulled over for suspicion of driving while intoxicated in October in Platte County, he told a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper who read him his Miranda rights, “I give you no jurisdiction over me, and I do not submit to anything you say about me.”

this story says nothing about income taxes, so whether income taxes are constitutional are irrelevant for this guy, he simple doesnt' recognize the government's authority over him whatsoever.

You are wrong about federal income tax law. If you actually read the law, there's nothing that most Americans earn that is taxable as income. However, they have big guns and all the time in the world and our money to destroy our lives with should we choose to challenge them. If you ask the IRS to tell you why you owe an income tax, they'll send you a little brochure that includes no mention of the law that makes you liable. I don't wonder why that is because I know.

I pay the tax simply to stay out of jail. And that's the only reason I've ever paid it. I don't laugh at people who challenge it because they're standing up for me, and even a jackass like you. I grieve when they are jailed and worse. And because I know that almost everyone who can do so lies on their tax return, I hope that those who laugh at those who stand up in a principled way will get audited. Because it's an unpleasant reaming even if they come up with nothing. And should they decide to make an example of you, then I will chuckle just a little. See, I'm not a Christian, so I can laugh at those who would happily see others persecuted without fear that the man in the sky will smote me.

If they didn't take taxes out of my meager pay check, I wouldn't pay em... I guess the IRS will come looking for me one day. If you pay taxes, your are complicit in the terrible things our government does plain and simple.

Well, just go in and demand your employer not withhold. Otherwise, you're just full of it. And just as an aside, if your paycheck is really meager, you probably don't really pay enough in income taxes to make a difference. Most of what you pay is probably medicare and social security taxes.

They may call those "employment taxes," but they too are income taxes.

^^^ This, in a well-stated nutshell. +rep

Really? Wow, thanks for showing me how simple that would be. Will you send me money when I get fired?

I'm with you, like you said, it doesn't matter what the law is, it matters what the people with guns want to enforce.

no, he won't.

What he meant to say was, you can nicely ask your employer to put you on 1099 rather than W, not everybody's job qualifies though.
