Constitution Day folks. It doesn't conflict with other holidays. Costs for hotels and travel will be minimal for out of towners.
Its the longest day of the year.
We're all about the Constitution and so is our candidate Ron Paul.
Its not too late to still be very effective and not too early that we'll have fits trying to put it together and we'll have plenty of time to make it a great rally.

Weather is usually good in Washington in June.
I'm sure I can think of other reasons but I have an intuitive feeling about June 21 for some reason.

Most of all, it doesn't conflict with July 4 or Memorial Day. Its really important that we get as many people out there as we can and if it doesn't conflict with other holidays we'll have a higher turnout.

I like it too, but what part of "Dr. Paul will be announcing a date" don't people understand?

After a lot of consideration, I must concede. This is the best over all date. Now let's see what Ron says about it.

Are you suggesting that we shouldn't make suggestions just because Dr. Paul will be announcing a date? I don't think he minds if we make suggestions. We may not get our way, but I still think it's okay to make suggestions.

Personally, I think June 21st is the best day, but if Dr. Paul decides something else then that's okay, too, but I do think he should be willing to take suggestions and not try to rule as a supreme dictator like some people in Washington, not that I believe he is anything like that.

There are so many good reasons for June 21st! Here are a few!

#1 It is PAST the primary season so the Ron Paul campaign gets no benefit at all! (Go figure)

#2 June 21, 1798 - Irish Rebellion of 1798: The British Army defeats Irish rebels at Battle of Vinegar Hill

#3 June 21, 1898 - Guam becomes a U.S. territory....

#4 June 21, 1919 - Royal Canadian Mounted Police fire a volley into a crowd of unemployed war veterans, killing two, during the Winnipeg General Strike.

#5 June 21, 1940 - World War II: France surrenders to Germany.

#6 June 21, 1964 - Three civil rights workers, Andrew Goodman, James Chaney and Mickey Schwerner, are murdered in Neshoba County, Mississippi, United States, by members of the Ku Klux Klan.

#7 June 21, 1982 - John Hinckley is found not guilty by reason of insanity for the attempted assassination of U.S. President Ronald Reagan.

Oh by the way.. June 21st happens to be the day that New Hampshire ratified the constitution being the 9th state but the final 13th state, Rhode Island, was May 29, 1790 almost 2 years later.

Oh did someone fail to mention the actual date of constitution day?

That would be Sept. 17.

I think it should be June 18th because that's the day when Andrew Jackson's kitten took its first crap.

Enough with the date suggestions already!

No it does not. Might as well be New Years day 2010. Why that day? It has no real significance to Ron Paul's presidential campaign. Same as your date.

Then how come he mentioned that specific date? Argue argue argue. RP will set the date and no matter how many come on here whining that will be the date the majority of us are satisfied with. This is for the purpose of showing numbers. There are other things going on in the background as he stated as well. he does not waste words. Listen to everything ten times if you have to. He said what he said and that is what he said. No amount of prevarication and obfuscation can alter the video or his interview with AJ..

Thanks.

What makes you think June 21st is Constitution Day?

June 21, 1788 - New Hampshire ratifies the Constitution and is thus admitted as the 9th state in the United States. (wikipedia)

It does not matter because I think we should pick a day that has no existing significance. That way we can make it a new National Holiday in the future.

June 21st would be perfect...

This day marks the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere and the winter solstice in the southern hemisphere, and thus is the day of the year with the longest hours of daylight in the northern hemisphere and the shortest in the southern hemisphere.

I still vote May 25th. I'm not for any date after the middle of June. I feel like it's too late.

Again, June 21st has what emotional significance to the general populace concerning freedom? Very little.

If you fail to stir emotion in people regarding this event in regards to the American spirit you will not get the crowd your hoping for.

I understand many of you value June 21st because of the consitution but we are not trying to convince you. We need to convince the general populace and get people out of there house that are normal supporters. You will not do this on a generic date. You need to attach the March to the emotion felt when people think of Freedom. There are a few dates in the year that do this and that is why they are national holidays. Should the March be on the holiday itself? Probably not, but should it be right next to it and be part of it? Yes.

If your concerned about media coverage you will be very disapointed no matter what day it is planned. If you want to get the event to be remembered then you need to stir emotion.

best thought on the thread

It's going to be what days we can get a permit that really decide the dates.

btw, i like june 21 cause a) college kids are out of school b) its on a saturday so 9-5ers can fly up on friday, fly home on sunday c) it has a constitutional foothold that can be spun into a "constitution day" d) it'll be sunny.

Hear, hear!

I am a D.C. local, and I can tell you the LAST days you would want to try and have a rally on the Mall would be Memorial Day or Independence Day. THe crowding is UNBELIEVABLE and you would get ZERO - I mean ZERO - media coverage.

June 21st is an excellent choice!
