I'm always fascinated that the ADL came into existence in 1913 along with the Federal Reserve and the IRS.

The "liberty left," as I call them, are our best potential allies. They oppose foreign wars, federal assaults on liberty, corporatism, bailouts, drug war. As in, they stand with us against the worst offenses of the State.

The things we agree on FAR outweigh those we clash on.

We could look to the 1930's "America First" for inspiration. Conservatives, Socialists, Communists, and moderates of all stripes rallied around the anti-war cause, which would have succeeded had it not been for Pearl Harbor.

Great.... now if we can just get the conservatives/rights to understand that being conservative means opposing big-government abroad too. And if we can get the liberals/lefts to understand that having big-government at home is just as bad as having it abroad.

Most of these people just need an education in basic economics & they'd be good. I've turned a few of them to our side already. They are MUCH easier to turn than heartless neo-cons & the like because they are mostly driven by emotion & their sense of injustice. All you have to do is explain how centralized government is fundamentally unjust & corrupt. Then you have them.

Ron Paul is a consistent isolationist and not simply opposed to the current wars. His views are quite similar to those of Charles Lindbergh and The America First Committee who were friendly to Germany and opposed to US involvement in World War II. Harkening back as they do to some mythical golden age of white Protestant America, his followers tend to be racist and anti-semitic and are , at least around my way, the core of the teabaggers. Oh, and they also tend to be secessionists.

So, if anybody wants an alliance with such people, feel free.
