State Sen. Lee Bright, R-Spartanburg, confirmed Monday that he’s had talks with fundraisers about a possible GOP primary challenge against U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham.

Graham has been pegged by the Club for Growth and others as a potential vulnerable primary target in 2014.

Lee Bright was just elected to his second term to the State Senate.

-He endorsed Ron Paul for President

-Has been rated #1 by South Carolina's Club for Growth since he's been in office (08, 09-10, 11)

-Information and stuff he's posted on his Facebook page (within the last month):
  • Started a book club event that featured Bastiat's The Law
  • Quotes of Hayek and Mises
  • Story about NSA whistleblower saying we are under virtual surveillance
  • Video of Rand's defense against pre-emptive war with Syria
  • Rand's video on NDAA and due process
  • Article slamming Obama's use of drones
  • Article against Leahy's bill to allow warrantless searches of email
  • Video of Jim DeMint explaining the GOP needs to be more libertarian
  • Video of Ron's farewell address
Just what I've seen from his Facebook page shows that he understands liberty.

I would encourage everyone to like his Facebook page and follow his career, especially if he decides to challenge Lindsey Graham.

I'm so confused. What is going on in South Carolina?

Well the news that he spoke with fundraisers was before DeMint's announcement and all the talk by Tom Davis saying someone needs to primary Graham may have been referring to Lee Bright.

Who knows...time will tell.

Well, if Lee wants to run I will support him just as I would Davis. But I want Davis to run for Congress if Scott leaves.

I will be very disappointed if Davis has no higher politicial future in his own sights.

While I certainly wish Tom Davis would consider running for higher office, I think we should understand that he has (I believe) two young children, and he may not want to have to miss out a lot of his two children's young years. Playing with them, having fun, being a dad may be more important to him at this time. I certainly can understand that.

Yeah, but the way he sort of stepped into the spotlight makes it seems he thinks differently. Maybe he still does.

I know what you mean though, my state senator was the majority leader and he literally resigned yesterday to take a job with a TV show that would allow him to spend more time with his children. He also may have been pressured out after exposing Agenda 21 to other legislators, but we will never see what goes on behind closed doors.

This Lee Bright chap sounds pretty good. One thing I would suggest he do though is maybe go primal in terms of his eating habits. He has a bit of a dumpy county commissioner type look going to him, and as superficial as that might sound, it matters when you start getting to the statewide or national level elections. He is decent enough looking (his wife and daughters are very pretty) he just needs to shed a bit of the extra pounds and tone up a bit.

If you think he needs to shed a few pounds, you must think I need to be divided into three human beings.

Not necessarily. Some people carry extra pounds well and their weight helps them exude authority. Boss Hogg. Tony Soprano. Marcellus Wallace. Jake of "Jake and the Fatman" fame. I'd have to see you to know whether I'd advise you to tone up or not in preparation for a run for office. Bright just has a body type and look where excess weight doesn't do him any favors.

Looks like he'll be running:

That didn’t take long …

Days after S.C. Sen. Tom Davis (R-Beaufort) – long considered a likely GOP primary challenger to U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham – announced his intention to stay in the State Senate, another fiscal conservative is reportedly preparing to run against the “Republican in Name Only” in 2014.

Sources close to S.C. Sen. Lee Bright tell FITS the second-term Republican is “100 percent” running against Graham.

“He’s in,” one source said. “He’s running.”

Did the establishment plant people to comment on that site? Lots of hate directed towards Lee, Tom, and Mark Sanford.

Those are lefty fairy drones not republicans. Really happy he's running for sure, I'll be more than happy to pitch in.
