Rand has no one to blame but himself if he doesn't make the CNN debate. CNN put up fair criteria. Rand didn't need to poll very high to make the debate. Only 3.5% nationally or 4% in Iowa or New Hampshire are not high or unreasonable numbers. CNN has been as fair to Rand as any news organization has been. They've been far more fair than Fox News. Rand just needs to do something to get his poll numbers up if he wants to make the next GOP debate.

Is this the best number to call? It seems to be shared with Cartoon Network while CNN lists (404) 885-7163 as their primary contact in Atlanta.

When they are disproportionately polling over 50s and virtually no one under 50 I call bullshit. Also CNN's own poll in NH is absolute horseshit

Good catch. Yes lets call that one instead.

I agree with this.

My impression is that they base the proportionality of age groups off of participation in previous caucuses/primaries. It would make sense, why would they ask age groups evenly across the board if that doesn't represent who shows up at the polls? I get the frustration, if young people showed up at the polls as much as other age groups then Rand would have as good of a shot as anyone, but that's just not been the case. Maybe that'll change, but being part of the younger age group, I doubt it.

You guys can go with your perfect storm theory but I think we are losing because we are losing the internet. Online shills for all of the major candidates go after Paul's policies and supporters, and there is little or no counter arguments. I've even seen Hillary , Sanders, Cruz, Trump shill's attacking Rand Paul comment sections for headlines on the front page of every political website I can find. I honestly started going into these discussion forums because it felt like there was no real discussions or real people on any other websites.

Maybe Rand should say we need to close the internet. :roll eyes:

I really don't get why people think its so easy to just wish higher polling and receive it.

It's tough nationally to increase poll numbers, it takes resources and free media coverage doesn't hurt at all. When the networks started using national polling to determine debate placement, the campaign had to reallocate resources in the early states to try and mitigate the decrease in poll numbers due to an expanded field and 24/7 coverage of certain other candidates. It is easier in Iowa/NH, but still are competing against 3-5 other strong campaigns in each state. The campaign just did an ad buy in Iowa a week or so ago, and Rand spends a lot of time in those states with local press. Now that the debate criteria seems to be involving statewide polling, some of these campaigns including Rand's can pay less attention to national polling and focus their resources in Iowa/NH where it matters.

I'll call them tomorrow; if they don't answer, they'll receive a long and decidedly unpleasant message.

...words like 'whore' and 'shill' to be worked in frequently.

Ah, so it's CNN's fault and not Paul himself or his campaign for not polling higher, thus qualifying him for the main debate. Okay, that sort of backwards logic works.

Perhaps their data on participation is outdated as well. I remember caucusing in MN for Ron and all of the old people that have done so for decades were shocked by the sudden number of college age people that showed up. Iowa could be similar with their Christmas break being moved.

They know this, and is the reason they have been trying to get Rand Paul to drop out before the actual caucus, Rand is going to win both NH and Iowa ..

CNN's poll was blatantly set up to favor Trump...they prefaced the poll question on who you support with four or five questions on immigration...this is an absolute no no for polls as it sets up a desired conclusion...never ask questions like this before polling for presidential preference. I do agree that Rand's campaign is really not very good....why doesn't he have a manager or communication director who gets interviewed, like Trump's. They can say more outrageous things without it being said by Rand.

I think CNN is trying to set Trump up, have him coming into the debate with a wide lead over everyone else and try to force other candidates to go after him on stage instead of doing it on their own like the CNBC panel. After the debate, they say he had a bad night, polls the next week have him back around 20%, and everyone talks about Trump's campaign in free fall mode.
