Late breaking developments: recount [Mod: Unverified info]

Why do we always have to wait at the last minute to fork out the money? It happened on Money bombs days and for the blimp deadline.
We should know by now to give early.
Don't wait at the last minute to go vote. Take advantage of early voting in your cities. Avoid being turn away because of long lines. There's also more chances for machines breakdown or anything else going awry on very busy voting days. VOTE EARLY! PLEASE! Don't forget to download and affidavit and have it notarized. Take a snap shot of your vote.

Unbelievable!!! How can people be so cruel?!!!

That was not very nice at all. Clearly, there is a concerted effort to thwart the recount.

Sounds like someone has something to hide.

I wonder if the person who sent the message to Paypal was the same person who told Jennifer Call she should be shot.

then call everybody, campaign headquarters, raise noice

will you let them steal your vote ???

btw call and verify

I am an American living in South Korea. They recently had a presidential election here.

Here are some interesting facts:

South Korea has a population greater than Canada, Australian, New Zealand, and Sweden combined.

They used paper ballots and counted all of them by hand. They counted the entire country in one day. And they counted them in plain view of the people and the media.

So why can't one tiny state like New Hampshire do that?

Iowa still hasn't counted all of their votes.

Population of South Korea: 49,044,790 (July 2007 est.)
Population of Iowa: 2,982,085 (2006 est.)
Population of New Hampshire : 1,235,786 (2006 est.)

Well that was pretty fast response time. 3 hours ago Fred Smart got in touch and asked me to get the word out. We've got the word out on RBN and WTPRN and the word is going out. We're also in touch with Kucinich people.

I'm not sure what the next move is but I'll post updates as soon as I get them.

To get what word out?

What is going on?

So did the Attorney General actually refuse payment from WTP or was it the office?

That's one thing that isn't clear to me right now. I have a query into Albert Howard about this but haven't heard back yet. It's either that they stalled/refused to accept payment OR we missed the artificial deadline at 3:00 PM EST.

How do you know that payment wasn't accepted then?

Molly, what's happening is that the NH Secretary Of State imposed an arbitrary deadline for us to get payment for a recount in. The deadline was 3:00 PM EST today.

The Granny Warriors had set up two separate Chippins for this, the first raised about $40k and the next was to raise the remaining $25k. As the deadline approached and we were only $5k short of the goal, their Paypal account was suspended, making it impossible to use these funds.

HOWEVER, the WTP people stepped up with the necessary funds and tried to make payment but were not allowed to do so. We're not sure exactly why just now. Either the NH Secretary Of State created obstacles or we missed the deadline or both.

A whole bunch of us are trying to figure out what to do about it now. I think it's going to be a long, long night.

Look, Albert already paid the $2000 initiation fee. The votes are already on their way to be counted. And they had the money ready.

I predict the Attorney General will make them pay a late fee of some sort.

I can't imagine there would be any problem. We had the money. It was just a logistical problem getting it to them.

So are WTP going to be on it at 9am tomorrow?

If we let this slip through our fingers on a technicality, it would be heartbreaking.

There shouldn't be any problem since we made a good faith effort to comply with his arbitrary deadline and our good faith effort was thwarted by an institution out of our control, should there? So it is reasonable for him to accept payment from WTP tomorrow am, right?

Is anyone talking to WTP?

You are right Molly and some of us have had enough heartbreak in this world. We can easily imagine a problem. They set such immediate deadlines to stress our capability to respond in time. We don't intend to let it slip through our fingers.

Apparently, someone contacted Linda at the dailypaul.com and this is what she said:

This is according to Linda Hunnicutt of Grannywarriors, with whom I spoke at 1630 hours pacific time: paypal released and then reversed $55,600 after suspicions of impropriety. Linda was careful not to accuse or speculate and frankly it may not be relevant. Long story short, sufficient funds were initially presented to NH by the deadline today. The paypal reversal interrupted the successful completion of the transfer shortly thereafter. NH has elected to determine by tomorrow whether they will accept funds and allow a recount, due to the issue. Evidently nothing more can be done except to thank Linda, Grannywarrions, and the former NH AG (whose name escapes me at the moment) who have exceeded what the average person would have done given the circumstances. Hoora.
