It's not placating them. Placating them would be saying he should be in jail. It's about making their counter-narrative as difficult as possible to argue, which now it is. There never should have been a trial. There was, because of significant political pressure and narrative control from corporate media. The judge calling a mistrial with prejudice in the midst of the legal process would give the very people trying to destroy him a narrative win. They would be able to wield it as a cudgel for the rest of time, that he was bailed out by a sympathetic judge, and a jury would have convicted him. This outcome refutes that completely.I have no interest in delegitimizing the left's anger. It was never legitimate to begin with.
If the left wouldn't have liked for the case to be thrown out, that's their problem. We have placated the left for far too long and that's how we got into this mess.
