Kucinich loses House seat

Kucinich opposes war abroad and the war on drugs here at home. War is a racket, the health of the state, and big government's best friend. The simple fact that he opposes those two things makes him a greater ally in liberty than the vast majority of the GOP. He's also against the Fed, opposes Gitmo, voted against NDAA, and opposed TARP. Yeah, he's socialist. And the GOP isn't? The difference is a matter of degree, not of principle.

Go ahead, name me Republicans who meet all of the above criteria.

Your hero Ronald Reagan tripled the national debt, by the way. So in his rendezvous with history, he sentenced me and others born during and after his reign of terror to enslavement under the crushing burden of debt and expanding government. And if we wanted to smoke weed or whatever to escape the grim reality of our futures, well, we'd get thrown in a cage, thanks to his massive expansion of the drug war.

You'll forgive me if I can see the merit in Kucinich's opposing the blatant slaughter of innocent people around the world, even if he's an oppressive statist economically.

This. After Paul, Kucinich was the closest to a Constitutionalist in office.

I think the problem is that with some people, if you don't agree on issues you are bad. His philosophy is very different from Paul's. THey form coalitions because they are generally good people who can agree on certain things being unconstitutional. Kucinich has it in his head that it is the job of government to take care of everyone. I happen to greatly disagree. That doesn't make him a bad person, or a bad representative. He tried playing the game the last few years. It did him absolutely no good and the party did nothing for him when it came time for him to collect on the favors. This is why I don't trust playing the game as a valid excuse to play power. If those in charge of the parties feel that you are against the grain by nature, they won't put any faith in you just because you play ball with them for awhile. They require something more to where they believe you really are one of them. This is why I don't buy the subversion theories people place on Rand. They believe he is just playing the party.

You don't play an organization like one of the major parties. They play you. They use you for what they want, and they may be nice about some of your pet projects in return.
