Kent Snyder RIP

Not to put words in his mouth, but I just think that he's saying that in Kent's case, maybe there are better ways to express our condolences than a cash chip-in. Nothing more, nothing less.

I would be up for chipping a few bucks toward an RPF flower thingy or something. Just not a lump sum.

Thank you.

I hear what you're saying, and you're right. My original thought process was that a donation would be a token amount for flowers or a rememberance wall or whatever unless there was some sort of emergent need asked for by the family.

I think some flowers would be great, but I don't think we should go overboard on that either. Not just as a money issue, but I remember a few years back a loved one died and everyone sent all these flowers and when it was over they became more of a burden because it was like "what the hell are we going to do with all of these flowers?" Eventually they just got thrown out.

From Arlington, Virginia, today comes news of the death of quiet libertarian giant Kent Snyder, after a long illness, at the age of 49. A sweet, smart guy with a 24/7 work ethic, Kent was a martial-arts champion, and an important aide to Ron Paul. Kent worked in the Paul 1988 Libertarian presidential campaign, and went on to head Ron's Liberty Committee, the caucus of Paulians in the House of Representatives. Kent was also, as Ron noted in an early speech (video), the "instigator" and "coordinator" of what became the 2008 presidential campaign, and which Ron asked him to head.

Even in his final weeks of sickness, Kent was the sort of man who worried more about friends and family than himself. He was never self-obsessed, even at the end. May his great soul rest in peace

Kent Snyder dies RIP brother

Ron Paul 2008 Campaign Chairman Kent Snyder has died from complications related to pneumonia. It is hard to find words right now, but I wanted everyone to know how much this sweet, earnest and committed man meant to Ron, the staff, and the movement. The battle for human liberty and human dignity have lost a giant. Please join me in praying for his family, friends and many admirers.
Kent, along with Lew Moore, gave me my first shot in politics and I will always be profoundly grateful.
Below are some links that any one wanting to know more about Kent might find helpful.

Well, do what thou wilt (no pun intended). And so will I.

heavy.

buddhists don't believe so much in the whole resting eternally bit, and i think r.i.p. is
always in poor taste so i will simply say,

may he return as a bovine in India.

Truly tragic. My condolences to his family and friends.

I'm willing to contribute to some sort of memorial.

wow, what sad news to see after I've been away for a while.

May his legacy live on!

Good job Kent, it was well worth it I'm sure. You'll be missed.

I first met Kent on 4/11/07 - Ron Paul's first visit to Iowa. I was impressed with the peaceful confidence with which he carried himself. As the campaign progressed his cool demeanor was helpful when things got crazy.

I especially remember June 07 when Kent was on WHO radio when RP had been excluded from the ITR/ICA candidates' forum. Things got touchy and the ITR honcho was exasperated and defensive, his voice rising. Kent was calm, competent, and reasonable in his response. The contrast made the other guy sound clueless and petty. It was instructive and I'll never forget it.

I wish he were still with us.

Thanks, Kent.

so sad, kent was a really nice guy, i met him a few times in new hampshire and he was just always so warm and kind like RP

has RP issued a press release to his supporters about this or anything... since i haven't seen any real proof i would just like to hear it from him or someone from the campaign

I'm absolutely blown away. My prayers go out to his friends and family.
