This is fantastic news. Of course, Ken helped Rand with his NSA lawsuit, and both of the Pauls endorsed him in his gubernatorial bid. This could be a stepping stone to a future SCOTUS appointment.

RICHMOND — A Senate panel on Tuesday nominated former attorney general Ken Cuccinelli II to the Virginia Supreme Court, a move that could both keep Cuccinelli out of the 2017 governor’s race and deal a particularly bitter blow to Gov. Terry McAuliffe.

While the governor and the Republican-controlled legislature have been deadlocked for months over how to fill a vacancy on the state’s highest court, the nomination of Cuccinelli appeared to have enough support from GOP lawmakers to break the impasse.

Cuccinelli (R), who narrowly lost the 2013 gubernatorial contest to McAuliffe (D), seemed caught off guard. “I am humbled and honored to be considered for such a position, but it is not something that my wife and I have previously contemplated,” he said. “Together, we will prayerfully review this possibility.”

No, it's horrible news.

Ken Cuccinelli is a classic dirtbag prosecutor who has a history of trying to keep nonsense laws on the books just so prosecutors can have as much discretion as possible in how to ruin someone's life.

But we've been over that before, and I don't expect you to suddenly understand why that's a problem.

Cuccinelli has his flaws but he's the closest thing to a liberty nomination that could ever come out of the VA Senate.

He's also got a Ron Paul endorsement to his credit.

I'm so sick of the Purity Crusade I could vomit. No wonder this movement stalled out.

Well, I guess you've never been on the receiving end of a prosecutor trying to up his stats.
If you have to find the equivalent of four extra mortgage payments to pay a lawyer to help you keep your kids because of a bullshit charge, it kind of colors your perception of dirtbag prosecutors.

Cuccinelli's claim is that only by reinstating the Crimes Against Nature law, which Cuccinelli dishonestly calls the "Anti-Child Predators Law," can the state of Virginia prosecute people who rape children. Never mind that rape is already illegal, child molestation is already illegal, and statutory rape is already illegal. His website says that a full 90 sexual predators may come off the sex offenders registry (the site is vague on how) if oral and anal sex isn't banned outright for everyone, a claim that hopefully will remind voters that enforcing such a law would mean that adults having consensual sex in their bedrooms could become "sex offenders" if they're caught.

Sorry for the "purity test" there, but supporting assholes who want to police the bedrooms of MARRIED COUPLES is the actual reason why this movement is done.

No..... I'm not done.
You also need to know that Cuccinelli set up a site specifically to crusade for this law during his bid for Governor. This was a full decade after Lawrence V. Texas. He didn't take a weird position on blowjobs and then refuse to answer questions about it during the campaign: he made it one of his campaign centerpieces.
So if you guys think I'm making a bigger deal out of this than it is, I remind you that he started it.

I wonder why he really quit this. Regardless, he has no business on the US Supreme Court now that he's been shitting on the Constitution with his endorsement of natural born Canadian Rafael Cruz Jr. for the Presidency.

(He could've been a good governor. Likely would have gone after climate fraudsters at UVa. The anti-carbon conspiracy is probably the number one anti-human, anti-liberty scam on the planet right now.)
