Ken Cuccinelli for Senate?

Just a small vocal minority on this forum didn't like Ken Cuccinelli.

Not necessarily true. I don't say anything about candidates that I don't like or find uninspiring.

I wouldn't donate, but I'd probably like him better than the dem candidate.

Oh sure. Cooch loses to a very unlikeable Democrat (McAulliffe) - so his next step is to run against the most popular politician in the state.

Warner ... 51% Favorable ... 31% Unfavorable
Cuchinelli ... 40% Favorable ... 52% Unfavorable

INSANITY: Doing the same things and expecting different results.

And that will be the exact argument the VA. GOP will make why we should vote for a Lindsey Graham clone as opposed to someone that Ron Paul endorsed and campaigned for.
Wait for it.

No. The GOP needs to stop running theocrats and/or people who are easy to portray as theocrats.

You have nothing to worry about. There is no way that the Lindsey Graham clone that they will run against Warner will be easily portrayed as a theocrat.

If you were opposed to him as a gubernatorial candidate, would your views on him change if he ran for Senate?

Could he win? Warner is popular but he voted for ObamaCare, and 2014 is a midterm year.

He could not win, and i would not support him because it would be a waste of time. Cooch is finished in Virginia. He had potential, but he screwed it up with the stupid sodomy nonsense and has no chance at any statewide office ever again. Focus your efforts on the next generation of Liberty Candidates in the Commonwealth, and try to stress to them the importance of not making the same mistakes Cooch did.

Enlighten us?

In a theocracy not only is civil law completely dependent on religious law, but the civil leader is also believed to (or at least claims to) have a direct personal connection with the civilization's divinity.

A civil government run by members of the religious leadership is called an ecclesiocracy.

I have never seen any GOP candidate advocate for either of those.

When the crux of your campaign is pandering to Evangelicals it's easy to come off as a theocrat to moderates. You can still oppose abortion and gay marriage, but you have to adjust your rhetoric. The GOP has to stop playing into the left's hands.

You are correct, however, you also need to understand that painting Republicans as having theocratic tendencies is the number one, and sometimes only real path to victory the Democrats have in purple states. Cooch may not be a textbook definition of a theocrat, but he did support a law that makes sodomy a felony, and that is the sort of law loony law Americans expect to find only in theocracies.

Bottom line- Cooch is a candidate who is either too stupid or too out of touch to realize that advocating for a law that makes the overwhelming majority of sexually active adults in his state felons is a guaranteed recipe for electoral defeat. Sooner he goes away, the better.
