Lawrence, Douglas County. Kansas University.

1600+ are in the YFP chapter at KU.
Douglas county has not reported. That is where the big 2,000 people rally was also. Let's hope these Youth for Paul can pull out some big numbers.
Don't count on it. Especially with it being a Saturday morning again.![]()
You have to wonder how Obama won his primary relying on youth support. Although he did have the media and yuppies on his side as well.
Agreed. I don't want to be a negative nancy, but I've come to not count on the youth vote. All talk and no walk.
I've never been more discouraged about politics. I talk to many people about Dr. Paul's ideas. Some I convert and some I don't. So many young people like the ideas but will not vote. There certainly weren't many under 30 at my caucus but there were a lot at Lawrence last night!
Last night we overhead some young folks behind us talking. One was debating whether to go to the caucus but didn't know when or where his was. Also, he wasn't sure he wanted to take the time because he had some other things he wanted to do today. You can't win if your supporters won't make the effort to go vote.
Oh well, we soldier on!

Yes. It's 100x easier to get the youth and just average undecided voters when the media is praising you as an idol. If Paul got the coverage that Obama got this election cycle would be over.
Didn't Obama have massive GOTV operations? Like people driving college students to vote?

Sorry but that is BS. You generate your own coverage by winning. You win by meeting people where they are, answering their concerns with your solutions and asking for the vote. Paul is a fine statesman for the libertarian-conservative cause, but he is poor at retail politics.
Not to mention, we knew from the start the media wasn't going to bow down and worship him, so the campaign and the candidate should have had something better in their strategy than doing rallies at colleges where he gives the same speech over and over.
Honestly, it is time people stop blaming to media and the voters for the failures of the campaign and the candidate. Because if we fail to look at the real cause of the loss, we are destined to repeat this in 2016 or 2020.
Bingo!!! But don't suggest that here on this forum. You'll get Neg Reps. I know.
In my opinion, it's hard not to get into Obama's GOTV operations without bringing up race and the possibilities reached from that issue alone...
Anyway, Douglas and Shawnee counties may give Paul a nice third place. I don't see it possible him charging up to second place being 1,800 votes down from that spot as it is.
Honestly, people dont realize how close our economy is to collapsing. The 80% or so who are still working arent doing great but they arent homeless either.
Once the economy collapses via the debt ala Europe or the dollar being dumped, people will be in the streets. They will then realize why the Patriot Act, the TSA VIPER teams and the NDAA are effed up.
Its at that point that they will wish that they had voted for Ron Paul. That our very way of life is dependent on our economy and the safeguarding of our civil liberties. That EVERYTHING else comes way later on the list of priorities.
