It's too bad that Kansas has a dumb caucus. My entire family supports Ron Paul as well as my extended family - we all would have voted for him in a typical Primary. Unfortunately, we also own two retail stores in town and are not going to sacrifice a potential 10k in business on a Saturday (our busiest day) to go caucus.
I have at least 10 family members who would have gone and voted if it weren't a caucus.
Are these people seriously stupid enough to believe that a president has the power to lower gasoline prices?
I'm getting ready to go to my caucus in Stafford County, Kansas. I'm going to be giving a short, two minute speech for Ron Paul. I pretty much have it memorized, so it should go well. My county is very socially conservative, so I expect Santorum to win my county pretty easily. I'm just hoping that Ron can at least get third in my county and get at least 20% of the vote statewide so that he can get some delegates. I'll post an update on what happened at my caucus when it's over.
And THIS is why we are not winning more. People are too wrapped up in their own worlds to sacrifice for a greater good.

In all honesty I wouldn't be able to miss 10,000 in sales in my business to attend a caucus either.
There are two sides to this. Important Caucus/Primary events are also being shifted around, to ensure that those who would vote for Ron or some other non-establishment type will lose much more than the typical voter. There are states where things have been moved to ensure that there are fewer college kids around (and keep in mind that dorms close), or to make sure that business owners would have to pretty much shut up shop to attend. By contrast, others have a day off and nothing much has changed, and they proudly skip down there to vote for Romney or Santorum.

ron is spreading the message and that's important, -but let's face it... kansas is basically lucy holding the ball and we're a bunch of pathetic charlie browns expecting to really get a shot at it this time. the GOP has proven long ago that it will determine the outcome regardless of votes. expect the expected.

It is obviously your choice, but there's something to be said for the idea of putting up some huge signs indicating the store is closed (for a few hours) due to the Caucus, with caucus information, and maybe a nice subtle Ron Paul 2012 sign in the window. I hope at least some of your family made it.

Point also taken. But I believe an important point to be gleaned from this particular situation is that Ron has WAY more soft support than we die hards like to think. And we can't get them to vote/caucus.
