Contributions from individuals who gave less than $200: 27.2% for Amash and only 2.3% for Ellis

Ellis got a lot of big money contributions from within the district. One good thing is that a good amount can't be used for the primary election since many of his contributors gave more than the primary limit. His $200k debt is a personal loan.

Amash campaign posts half million dollar quarter
Outpaces primary opponent by more than $200,000, holds 9-to-1 cash advantage excluding debt
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The congressional campaign of Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) announced that it raised $518,476 in the last fundraising quarter—a record for the campaign and among the highest hauls from individuals of any House campaign in the country. Amash received contributions from 3,190 donors, with an average donation of $156.

“I am so grateful to the thousands of supporters who donated to my campaign in the last quarter,” said Amash. “Our campaign draws on the energy and financial support of people who value individual liberty, economic freedom, and the Constitution.”

The contrast between Amash’s quarter and that of his establishment opponent is stark:

“Our opponent is running a bizarre, niche campaign, and it shows in his quarterly report,” said Keith Allard, campaign manager for Justin Amash for Congress. "He has a small group of backers and no grassroots support. His campaign's massive debt and frivolous spending shouldn’t be surprising coming from a guy who blew hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars on Jennifer Granholm’s corporate welfare projects."

“In the last quarter, hundreds of volunteers have contacted the Amash campaign,” continued Allard. “Together, we’ve built the infrastructure necessary for a commanding win over our establishment opponent.”

Rand should swing by Justin's district and hold a fundraiser with him. Also raise some funds for the local GOP while he's at it and buy some goodwill with the locals.

lol, Ellis called Amash "not conservative" but is 200k in debt while Amash is 0.

Good job Ellis.

It's not really debt. There are campaign donation limits, but you can loan an unlimited amount to your campaign. It's essentially a loophole around campaign finance restrictions.

There is no limit to how much the candidate can donate to his own campaign. But they structure it as a debt so they can recover the funds later.

We seem to always have the advantage in being fiscally responsible while typical establishment candidates spend like fools. A true fiscal conservative will make those campaign donations stretch further and work harder than neocons ever will.
