Just thinking out loud here...Liberty news channel?

Pay them handsomely and word-of-mouth would get around that this channel appreciates their employees and people would seek to work at our channel in the future, not only because of the compensation, but for the journalistic freedom.

Hell of a way to get this off the ground--find a way to make it so expensive that we couldn't afford it if half of us won lotteries...

If you go to a global channel and run it cheaply you can fund it on carriage fees alone. Then you don't need to kowtow to the corporates.

I have a serious and solid business plan drawn up for such a channel. If we had to launch it more cheaply it is possible, but more likely to be smushed.

I build incredible low cost television stations that go head to head with the big networks at 1/10th to 1/100th the cost.

If you didn't want to have the same quality you could drop down, but then it will just look like i/ureport endlessly.

Which is another option, just start flooding ireport with high quality scoops with a liberty tinge.

Interesting idea. It is something I would watch/read myself I guess. And I'm in The Netherlands (Europe).

Never said it would be cheap or easy, but if you want a successful model for a liberty network to work that's the way to go.
