Just Leaked-- Huge Ron Paul National Blitz In The Offing

To get a full spread nationally, it is NOT cheap. Consider that Ron has blown over $1million in one state alone -- 50 states is going to run at LEAST $5 mill to get a fair shake, 10 would allow a deeper spread into more target markets. I would also love to see radio get a fair shake as well -- it's a lot cheaper and lots of stations nowadays are run off national satellite networks.. you can advertise a wide spread for fairly cheap. I'd love to see a national ad -- virtually nobody does it, they usually just focus on the primary states that matter .. but this would definitely grow his campaign and name recognition!

While the dems are anxious to run against Huck, I'd have to think they'd be scared witless of running against Ron.

They can't run to the "left" of him on the war, because they've been trying to simultaneously be for and against the war, while he has been against it from the beginning.

They can't run to the "left" of him on Social Security because they want to bankrupt it just as much as the republicans do.

They can't run to the "left" of him on the patriot act and the rest because they (largely) voted for it.

They can't run to the "right" of him on fiscal responsibility, guns, morality, personal responsibility, etc because they have no idea what those things mean.

He'd have them pinned an unable to move.

None of the other candidates have gone for national ads yet, I believe. For Ron to be the first one to do it is going to be a major news story.

Just passing along as I don't know which blog this person saw this information.

I found this on RP blogs. Someone from LA witnesses 5 trailer trucks of video equipment

"Just passing along as I don't know which blog this person saw this information."

Sounds pretty fishy to me already.

"I found this on RP blogs. Someone from LA witnesses 5 trailer trucks of video equipment blah blah blah.."

No mention of the name of the actual site, and no direct link?

I don't buy it.

I guess all they could do is say, "but he actually MEANS WHAT HE SAYS and that is just a fringe position to hold."

Peer pressure from Out-Of-State

But what sense does it make to make national tv runs when you NEED to win early primary states?
There is a strong rationale for this:

1: Iowans (and others) are not lepers quarantined on an island in the Pacific.
They have friend, relatives, and other important connections out of state.
If they are treated exclusively to the message then they perceive themselves as
being on the pointed end of a campaign shill, a real turnoff.
If on the other hand they perceive this same message being echoed by their
out-of-state connections then they will be more receptive.
This is simply good strategy - balancing the exposure to where there can be
feedback outside of media from influences outside the state.

2. No matter how limitied this national effort may be, it is valuable seed to grow
support in later primaries.:D

3. A national effort will generate a lot more consternation amongst the pollsters
and the controlled media who will find themselves increasingly in the
embarrassing position of answering a public blindsided by the success of a
candidate eternally billed as 'a longshot with no chance'.
The awful stench of pollsters trying to explain how Ron Paul won New Hamsphire
with poll numbers in the single digits will create eternally hillarious youtubes.
The loss of trust as the public realizes just how controlled media has tried
to manipulate their electoral decisions wil be priceless.
This cannot be achieved without a national ad campaign of some breadth.
Pollsters who cannot retool will be out of business by the end of 2009.

4. A guess: A national ad campaign targeting the holiday season when
families are gathered with televisions blazing into captive audiences would
have enormous impact. Any other time of year the audience has a lot more
freedom to choose what they watch, but during the holiday season televisions
are usually left blaring away in the background on whatever channel
Aunt Ethel left it on - a gaping opportunity to slide in adverts which might
otherwise go unseen.

Just my impertinent thoughts, not necessarily authoritative,
but at least it needs consideration...

The campaign is going to make a push to peak at the exact right time, going into the early primaries.

Big national ad campaign will be worth a huge boost. Dr. Paul needs to go from darkhorse, and early state spoiler, to national convention threat.

This is real afaik. I read dozens of articles on Ron Paul on an almost daily basis and somewhere, in the last week or two I recall a piece that was looking for Ron Paul backers to be in upcoming ads.

@American_swan & Rockwell:
Thanks for the compliments you two ... I'm blushing.

well, you know how we've been hearing RP say "we're just scrambling to find ways to spend this money" and things to that effect. Maybe it's true? This would certainly be a good way to spend the cashola.

He used this same last minute blitz technique in his congressional campaigns, from what I understand. I think his "we're scrambling" comments were meant to deflect curiousity about why the money didn't start flowing out faster after 11/5.

Surprise showings in Iowa and New Hampshire, all by themselves, would cause a lot of folk to take the red pill.

But big-time advertising and Hillary-like fundraising, coming out of nowhere from a "fringe" candidate, is going to cause a national freak-out. Also, many of those in IA and NH who like RP but don't want to "waste their vote" are going to jump aboard with both feet. I can't wait.

Imagine the same shills who ignored RP up until now trying to convince the public that his showings in IA and NH are anomalies, like Buchanan. Good luck to them!

I seriously seriously hope this is true, and I'm doubling my donation for the tea party to help make it happen!

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... veeerrrrry interesting.... ;)

Buch got a 15% boost from winning NH is '96, and he did not have nearly the cross-party appeal of Ron, nor was he the peace candidate during one of the least popular wars in American history. :)

This is going to be a major day in political, if not American, history. This is the day we buy our country back.

Imagine the same shills who ignored RP up until now trying to convince the public that his showings in IA and NH are anomalies, like Buchanan. Good luck to them!

This is going to be fun... :D

There's never "too much" investing in early states.

National ads are investing in early states because they will see the ads too.

National ads make sense because they raise his overall profile and his national polling numbers should go up, which may make early state voters more likely to vote for him if their the type that doesn't want to vote for a loser.

We want the field to remain split. This is our only option. If it is merely Romney vs. Paul, we don't stand a chance. Most of the GOP is for the war and this is a dealbreaker. We must ensure that the field is still divided come super-tuesday.
