I have my own faith, a combination of my Christian upbringing, Taoism and Buddhism. I believe there are three primaries that rule the universe; Truth, Love, and Tolerance. Everyone and everything is affected by these three all the time. I believe this was the original intent that Jesus had, that is if the text had not been screwed over by church officials to create an enslaved under-class. Pursuit of faith is entirely individual, it is the essence of liberty! Those who tell you that you have to belong to a church or a sect deceive you for their own profit. ... but I'm completely tolerant of all views, even Islam, as long as my right to pursue my faith isn't infringed as well.

Yeah. I hope that one day all people can be viewed as equals despite their religion or lack thereof.

Me too... I am very religious, but I must say that one of the best things about a free society is that people are able to choose their own values and live by them as they please, so long as they do not harm others.

I would say that just as God gave us free will to choose between right and wrong, good and evil, governments should honor the principle of allowing people their liberty to do as they wish with their own system of values. Without undue interference, and without coercion.

That's kinda the definition of Agnostic ;)

I am aware, though functionally it is like atheism, which is why I usually simplify it to others by calling myself atheist rather than get into some discussion over what agnosticism means.

I can be no more sure that god exists than I can the laptop i'm typing on. The only thing I know exists is my consciousness. The only proof I have of anything, is whatever the hell is thinking right now. Everything else either exists as I see it, or I simply perceive it as existing in that form. There is no way to prove which of the two scenario's exist. Its not that I don't believe in god, but I don't really believe in anything. I simply have the capacity to want and wish something truly is. I want there to be a god, but I don't believe there is anymore or less than anything else. Maybe I can believe in god the same way I believe in the people I love. But I cannot know that, only want it.

I don't understand why that bothers people. I'm simply identifying that I can either have faith in everything or in nothing. At what point do those two things become the same thing? But I'm still sort of fighting that one out amongst myself.
