This is the point I was trying to make. Anyone who shows up with a concession stand, or porta potties without a permit number, will be dealt with by the D.C. park police. I've helped organize a rallie in D.C. before. The park police are everywhere on horseback, and motorcycles, they will be very aware of who is permitted to do what. And, as I stated before, there will be groups already permitted to be there and we will be demonstrating on their venue that they took the proper channels to get. Again, Ron Paul won't show up for an event that is half-assed and illegal.

Not that I am advocating it but the Rainbow family has been gathering in National forests for a few decades..obviously not the same as DC.. and they never designate a leader. Whenever some idiot stepped forward to act as leader they were arrested for not getting a permit. However, as much as the NFS do not like it these people have no leader and have mutually agreed to go camping in the same area over the same time period and that isn't against the law. Conceivably this could be done but you get no logistics\, no stage, no portapotties and a big hassle.

When yer in swivelisation you need to act swivelized and adhere to swivelised behaviour.

21st and go we don;t need no stinking permit. What are they going to do arrest us all. Please. Besides if we did I would rather get arrested for that then anything. In a revolution you don't need permits you need bravery and princples. Also what we want is to restore the constitution while we still have the first amendant lets use it. I'm not going to sit here and talk about a revolution and have the government tell me when I can as individuals march on the capital building that we pay for with tax dollars. We want the FED gone, NAFTA, WTO, IRS, and restoring our Bill of Rights you better realize permits are a joke and governments control of our freedoms.

We really need to get this date underway, because as we've all said, we need to make plans. June 21st is perfect, and as BCalla stated, the need for a permit does restrict our Constitutional right to peacefully protest. We may as well show up and do it, but Deborah, youre right, RP and others may not show up unless it is "official". Can we put some pressure on Parks and Recreation? Can we get a contact person to call up and we can all bug them every day? I know they are trying to screw us up, but its completely unfair, and if we bug them enough I'm sure they'll get it done. We were expecting a date 2 weeks ago after already waiting for a month!

It would be great to have a permit, and I REALLY appreciate those who are working to get one (and when you do I will be chipping in bucks as well) but permit or not, we will be there on the 21st.

We've seen this play out before even with permits. We need to take all the necessary precautions so that if and when shit hits the fan at least WE will know we did the right thing.

I'm all in favor of getting a permit. But only because it will allow us to have a bigger, better rally. I have a RIGHT to show up on the Mall with a sign and call out my government on its abuse. I don't need a permit. I don't need to ask the MAN to allow it. I can and will be there. If they want to have a riot to put down, they can start one whether we have a permit or not.
