If you don’t like the law, by all means work to change it, however, until such time that it is changed John McCain III is not a natural born citizen and therefore not eligible to be President of the United States of America.

Thanks! Five threads on this topic weren't enough. This is highly relevant news that will surely change the course of the election.

A law passed in 1790 makes McPain a natural-born citizen.

If people can't understand the intent of the 14th amendment, they're sure not going to cotton onto this one.

The problem is that often times US Military Bases are considered "US territories", not legally, but often have an official US Postal address. To bring up this technical information may also backfire, so the information must be used carefully.

Stop posting this crap. McCain is a natural born citizen because his parents were Americans. He could be born on the moon and still qualify to be President.

If you're posting this all over the net, please identify yourself as a Romney supporter.

The canal zone was US territory, also, a child born to American parents serving overseas in the military is born a US citizen anyway.

Its high time to actually campaign, not try to find loopholes to win. This argument is like saying that the income tax amendment wasn't approved because punctuation differs on different versions instead of just working to repeal it outright.

Well put.

Panama Canal Zone

hn McCain was born August 29, 1936 in the Panama Canal Zone, to two U.S. citizens. It’s a common misunderstanding that the zone was a U.S. territory - in fact, the U.S. had lease rights, but not territorial rights. The US Constitution states, “No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States.”

If your parents are US Citizens it does not matter where you are born. If you were born in China you would still be an American citizen.

Too bad huh? :)
