joe the plumber isnt even a plumber; all the dirt on him comes out

I get slightly miffed at anyone who titles himself different than he should be. Skilled tradespeople are just that - skilled at what they do. If he isn't a master plumber, he's not a plumber.

Nonsense. I am not a CPA but I am an accountant. My friend the CPA doesn't call herself an accountant. She calls herself a CPA.

I used to work with a lot of tradesmen, and the electrical apprentices all called themselves electricians, and the plumbers called themselves plumbers.

He attaches faucets to sinks - he is a plumber. As in - one who plumbs.

Really far more controversial to hear a non-master plumber describe his profession by what he does than to hear the potential next president talk openly about implementing socialism.

Pathetic.

Of course. Unbelivable you should meet buerocracy maniacs even on here.

What about before the buerocrats in the government figured out you need a license to do plumbing? Nobody was able to call himself a plumber?

Give us limited government. Put an end to government licensing!

What about private licensing?

Private licensing is good. It is one way in which a free market provides quality control.

But people should stil be free to work even without a private license if they can find customers. With my money I should be able to hire anyone I want to to do my plumbing!

And this guy has been in buisiness for 5 years and has saved enough money that he is considering buying a company for 250,000. That tells me he isn`t strapped for customers and must be good at his job. I`d hire him.

He said he was considering buying a company that makes $250,000 per year. It's a whole different thing. We don't know what he's paying for it, and there's no telling if he made the money to buy it by being a plumber, but I agree with you otherwise.

Anyway, my local news is still talking about this guy... said he doesn't like all the scrutiny, but he will probably be campaigning for McCain later in the day. lol. Whatever.
