[h=2]Amid rising trade tensions and a tight labor market, U.S. businesses are hanging on to their employees and not laying off workers.[/h] Initial claims for state unemployment benefits dropped to 211,000, down 1,000 from the week prior and below expectations for 215,000.
Jobless claims are a proxy for layoffs. When President Donald Trump began raising tariffs, critics said the import duties and retaliation would cost American workers jobs. Instead, unemployment has plunged to 50 year lows, jobless claims have remained low, job creation is much stronger than expected, and workforce participation has expanded.

Don't forget, just as Democrats do, so do Republicans.....

Labor Force Participation Rates are around 62.8%.....right around the levels they were when Carter raped the economy in the face. The U.S. Manufacturing PMI is at 50.6, which are 2009 numbers. The economy is NOT doing well. You do not scream at a Central Bank to cut rates (which are already so pitifully low it's past funny) and ask for more quantatative easing. Granted, it is a global economic slowdown and not limited to the US.....but people saying the economy is doing well have forgotten some basic economics that was well known here just a few years ago.

The unemployment rate is the biggest lie going. And of many of the jobs people have, they pay terrible. Professionals making entry level pay. The only way to work now is to work for yourself. I need to get better at finding freelance work, made 2k a week doing that but the problem is finding steady work. Better than a company paying me $13 an hour for a 1 week project they charge a company 10k for.

I agree but things were even worse.

Most new jobs do start at entry pay level. They won't hire you on at top pay.
