Very good break down! Imagine if the FCC had pulled the license of every talk radio station that pushed the lie that there was evidence to prove that the 2020 election was stolen? In fact that actually better fts the criteria of the FCC rule mentioned in that there were in fact police resources used to deal with January 6th.

 And how much actually power did Hillary actually have to actually DO anything when she said that? There's been a lot of pushback from the right and the left against Biden when the facts came out about his administration pressuring social media companies to to the line. In fact the case went all the way up to the Supreme Court. A private citizen who never was nor ever will be elected president (Hillary Clinton) saying something asinine is totally different from an actual sitting president violating the first amendment.

As long as some people can't understand that this is a war for sanity, for hearts and minds, for God, and can't be won by turning into the same devil we're fighting, as long as some people don't don't understand that a war for principle can't be won by trashing principle, and that George Washington won nary a single battle, but won the war, I'm going to make those idiots keep smugly tapping the goddamned sign until their fingers fall off.

Comprende?

Kirk figured that out. He finally did stop shilling for Israel for money, air time and access. Didn't he? It cost him everything, but made him even more effective. So don't stomp on his legacy.

My interpretation is the Right is calling for Speech censorship whether they know it or not.
We used to get into this argument on RPF: Ron Paul says liberty is popular. Many people think it's not.

I've always contended that people want liberty for themselves - that part is popular.
But they want the other guy to be controlled.

My concern in this is not what happens to Kimmel, but that the Right has completely ceded the high ground on this topic. Complete unforced error.

How has the first amendment been violated in this incident?

Hillary had enough power to put Ricky Vaughn in jail for memes.

So do you think the DNC would call out Obama for losing unaccompanied minor children in detention? Because I certainly don't. I don't see the DNC holding a democrat state accountable for forced sterilization of prisoners. I remember back in the day Pat Buchanan was on Firing Line and the McClaughlin Group, both PBS programs.

Yeah, it was a lot better back then. They even had Milton Friedman on. But it's bad now. Either way it's just icky.

I don't think there is any "high ground" left anymore.

I've always said everyone is a libertarian when it comes to their own life.

I'm all too aware of that.

But this is morphing into a war for survival, which are always ruthless and bloody.

I wish that were not the fact, but it is.
I think we both get each other's point on this. I just think it could have been done while maintaining the high road.

The concern here is that 1) the left can use that now as a talking point to win elections and 2) once they win those elections, they will have free rein to wield those powers with greater severity since the precedent has been escalated. Just an unforced error.

How has the first amendment been violated in this incident?
I would say yes. I think public officials threatening private businesses to censor is a violation of the 1st amendment.

Do you think it was a violation of the 1st amendment when the Biden admin was threatening social media companies to censor?
