Three errors in Jen Rubin's tea party post

By DYLAN BYERS | 4/14/14 1:52 PM EDT

Conservative Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin wrote a post on Friday — about how Sens. Ted Cruz and Rand Paul aren't endorsing certain tea party candidates — that contains several errors, which remain uncorrected. They are:

1. She refers to a North Carolina Senate candidate named Chris Brannon. The Senate hopeful's name is Greg Brannon. This is the second time she has made that error.

2. When referring to New Jersey congressional hopeful Steve Lonegan, she notes that he is bidding for "a seat neither party thinks is in play, with incumbent Democrat Cory Booker quite secure." Cory Booker is a senator, not a congressman. He defeated Lonegan in a special election last year, and Lonegan is now running for the House, not for the Senate.

3. Most importantly: Rubin's theory is that Sens. Cruz and Paul aren't endorsing certain tea party figures because "they know when to separate themselves from the cranks and the losers on the right." Her primary evidence for this is that "neither one has endorsed Matt Bevin in Kentucky, Milton Wolf in Kansas or Chris McDaniel in Mississippi." She does not mention that Bevin, Wolf and McDaniel are all running against incumbent senators, and that it is extremely rare for a senator to endorse against another sitting senator in a primary.

she wrote another column today flipping out over Rand's answers on Iran in the ABC interview, I'm tempted to post the link but better not to give her attention I guess.

She must figure that the effect of her columns transcend to an audience that is vastly different from the people writing the comments. She is almost universally destroyed and made fun of in the comments. And she just keeps doing the same thing over and over. I notice that a very large amount of her premises appear to be patently false or utterly unsubstantiated. She even lies...for example, in both of her two most recent columns she said that Rand Paul wants to close Gitmo, when he said on ABC's This Week last May that he did not want to close it.

This bitch needs some payback. Somebody should find all the skeletons in her closet and air her dirty laundry.

This has got way beyond reporting, she is on a vendetta against the Pauls.

Jennifer Rubin’s Rand Paul obsession: April edition

Andrew Sullivan ran the headline last week, “The Neocons Lose Their Sh*t Over Rand Paul.”

He wasn’t kidding.

In the first three weeks of April, Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin mentioned Rand Paul’s name more than any other political figure including President Obama.

Rubin mentioned Paul’s name 147 times from April 1-20. She only mentioned Obama 131 times (not including “Obamacare,” but just President Obama or his administration specifically).

For comparative context, she mentioned Ted Cruz 36 times, Vladimir Putin got 33 mentions, Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush were mentioned 32 times each, Marco Rubio got 18 and Chris Christie was mentioned 14 times.

Last month, I reported that Rubin had mentioned Paul’s name 143 times from March 1-21. For March, this was more times than any other political figure with the exception of President Obama, at 206 times.

But in April, we see that Rubin’s focus on the tea party senator has eclipsed even that of the President of the United States.
