Jeb Bush, convert to Catholicism

The quote says "an organization of society". That could be parsed many, many ways. Perhaps it means via Cathlic charities or theological think tanks or something. We can't know without reading the whole thing or asking the writer.

Here is just one international RC charity: http://www.crs.org/

It is the role of the state to defend and promote the common good of civil society. The common good of the whole human family calls for an organization of society on the international level.

That is not talking about private charity. It is talking about the state.

Well Jeb, there goes the Klan and Freemason votes.

You may manage to pick up some more Latinos though.

Why do you bother with this catholic propaganda?

The most hated masses were when they had mission-fundraisers They always had an African priest or Indian or some other form of brown to come yell at us and tell us how greedy we are. I witnessed the brave minority walk out. The weekly donations weren't enough. They wanted more. They provided nothing. Everything they provided was already paid for with donations. These dickheads and our money. You should never trust them.

Why are you reasoning from parts to whole? Collectivist logic fail. :P There's no propaganda in the post you quoted. I said specifically "We can't know without reading the whole thing or asking the writer." (It's traditionally considered thoughtful to question poor logic in an author's writing like the Sola quote I responded to, you know)

No. How could a Christian worship at a Mass?

I've never been to one and I don't see how I could. But, I don't see why this rhetorical question is supposed to be answered with an "absolutely never." Maybe they don't fully understand what is going on at mass and being Catholic is just their tradition. I'm not saying the Catholic church is Christian. I am saying there might be some Catholics that are Christians.

If you truly want to be put to sleep, attend Catholic mass sometime. There is nothing of relevance spoken.

Interesting that he'd say he prefers Catholicism to his "previous religion" because Catholicism "doesn't move with modern times" considering Catholics in the US are significantly more socially liberal than evangelical protestants.

Thank the Jesuits for that. But it's trojan horse infiltration when they speak of progress.

The so-called "Judeo-Christian" tradition is nothing but a myth. I think it has been mostly used to further the American Civil Religion. In other words it is political idolatry.

The Judeo-Christian roots are there, but it's being utilized in a deceitful fashion.

I would hazard a guess that most Catholics who attend regular mass have a better clue of what's going on than some one whose "experience" and "knowledge" is reading the writings of other anti-Catholics who only theorize what the mass is about.

Perhaps. I'm going off what I know (which goes with what I know of Catholic doctrine.) Keep in mind I was responding to SF...

Do they not have gospel/epistle readings? Eucharist? That's about as relevant as it gets to Christians WRT Mass/meetings, etc. Do their homilies not deal with the Gospel and its modern relevance? I assumed it was similar to a Liturgy in that regard.

Well, all those parts are included.
Maybe the bar is placed too high, but I have never left mass imbued with any type of spiritual strength. They never discuss the specific evil in the world and how Catholics should directly combat it. It's just so detached and dead with focused on Jesus making everything copacetic. Ugh. Maybe I'm more inclined towards the Chuck Baldwins of the world that aren't afraid to boldly define and identify the problem & in turn make the tangible connections with the Good Book. Your daily 501 (c) (3) approved mass is frankly boring and soul sucking.

Interesting. Have you tried other parishes? Do RC parishes have bible studies? My (EO) parish has bible study classes called "Relevant" that deal directly with contemporary issues.

Religion-wise its a heck of a lot closer than the S.C.

There are 2 Adventists in Congress? I'm shocked! Even more so that we almost number the Pentacostals. (Far more Pentacostals than SDAs in the USA I believe).

I think I may have to switch churches. I find myself increasingly at odds with the Roman Catholic Church and it's agenda.

Yeah.....but context is everything. The preceding sentence starts of with "the role of the state."

Catholics would tell you that they are Christian too and part of the Judeo-Christian thingy you are referencing.

Exactly. The point is that the term "Judeo-Christian" was very recently invented to be more inclusive of groups that were not necessarily here (or participating) during the founding of this country. It was primarily Anglo-Saxon Protestants.

*edit: As a former Catholic, it was never taught to me that Protestants were not fellow Christians but I was told by Protestants that being Catholic was not Christian. If you are looking for some conspiracy where Catholics are undermining Protestants, I just don't see it. Catholics don't tend to go out trying to convert Protestants but the Baptists around here do try that with Catholics.

Different people have their own opinions of other religions. Your mileage will vary. Most Christians in the US don't question other Christians, unless you get into some of the newest "Christian" religions. Full disclosure: I am not Catholic, but nothing negative was said in my protestant church about the current Catholic religion. Of course when doing deeper study, there is discussion of the history of when and why the reformation occurred.

Like I said before, I would agree with you that the vast majority of people following a given religion have no idea about the elite politics that may be occurring behind the scenes.

You may manage to pick up some more Latinos though.

And that is definitely one of the considerations that occurs in the political elite smokey back rooms.

(This thread is not meant to be about religion, but about the politics surrounding religious groupings. Religion discussions are for a different sub-forum.)

Let's keep it to the political aspects, not the details of the religions themselves. This is about the small subset of the political elite that use religion for purposes other than religious.
