A buzz for Jeb? Check out HotAir.com's thread, 600 comments and about 580 of them say "NOT ANOTHER BUSH, I WILL VOTE FOR THE DEMOCRAT", "GET RID OF THE BUSH'S!", etc
One thing that I absolutely agree with Jeb on is "his" view on what needs to be done with education. He's very specific with that and he's right. Or at least relaying the correct meme. That may very well not be his personal take or it may be. I don't know. Could very likely just be echoing those specific points of discussion from some place else which is very plausible.

Could very likely just be echoing those specific points of discussion from some place else which is very plausible. Perhaps more than likely. Of course, coming in after an Obama term does give him an edge in the education reform department. A lot of folks I don't think quite understand the drastic change (more specifically the specific change in science, technology, engineering and math) of education kids are getting or have gotten over the last half a decade. And to be clear it doesn't really come atthe hand of the current President but has been pushed in the right direction. Things have changed rather fast (very fast actually) and are headed in the right direction. Jeb's notions don't particularly contradict the phenomenon.
One thing that both major political parties have been bipartisan on is the progress or direction they want to go with the space program and for all practical purposes Newt was spot on to recognize it for what it is and place it into discussion relevant to what the youth really are learning now.
This is why they talk about education (mentions it at LEAST 3 times):
So, what is it that he says he wants to do about education that you like? For some reason I don't believe it. The Bushes love to get the Fed Gov involved in education.
Some of the stimulus money from 2008-2009 got channeled into education; I've seen it directly being used to promote the STEM curriculum. They are pushing the hell out of it in TN; our Universities are getting a lot of funding (nowadays, it's coming from NSF) to offer courses and workshops to local K-12 teachers who are getting hit with the new curriculum.
Can't believe I fell for watching that.
Anyhoo...As I mentioned prior to this, I'm not exactly clear on if his view on it is actually his view. He clearly echoes relevant factors to be built upon though and built upon what youth are now learning. We don't have the classic education meme everyone likes to harp on so much anymore. We really don't. Sure, some...perhaps many will disagree but I would challenge many of them to crack open juniors work and take a peek at it. The entire language of math and science has changed. That's very important to understand if we're to stay on the subject of education philosophy but not so much if it's going to turn into a Bush yap session. Even though, it is a Jeb thread so...yeah.
Jeb echoes the future of education relative to infrastructure. Make no mistake about it. How far down the rabbit hole you want to go with it is up to you. Could be a rather long thread.
Miss-direction in this precise form is one of the most important strategies the neocons have used to take power in our country. If you don't understand that, then you don't understand neocon ideology at all.
So he wants the Federal Government to force schools to teach from a more classical education model?
Santorum surge? The "Bush buzz" is about as media-manufactured as the "Santorum surge."
The quickest prescription for improving education is in getting government out of it. Separation of school and state, and all that. Bush is certainly NOT advocating that, so the ultimate outcome of his drive is to create additional federal involvement in education, AKA worsening the problem.
As I recall, the first time I heard about Bill Clinton in the '80's, he was talking up "merit pay" for teachers, a simple pseudo-conservative sounding concept to establish his moderate-yet-responsible-and-concerned public advocate credentials, prior to a presidential run. Bush is doing the same inauthentic thing. The Bush family are masters at replacing real topics with phantom ones that can be parlayed into partisan wedge issues. "Classical education" is more of the same, and will disappear the second Jeb is elected, as his regime rolls out the real agenda---more war/empire, more Fed/bankster-run economic folly, and more NDAAs.
