I think what's going on is certain anti police websites have been dumping their articles here on RPF. These scary incidental accounts paint a stark picture, but they don't describe the average cop any more than the stories about crazy survivalists describe the average libertarian (perhaps the average Alex Jones listener though ). Keep in mind that a lot of the abuse you hear about takes place on the federal level. Local cops live in the town they work in, a lot of times that's also where they were born and raised. They're just looking for clean streets.

It varies from place to place, I'm sure the cops in the city are likely not going to have quite the same tenor or demeanor as the cops in suburbia. But that's what you'd expect right? As far as comparing cops in general to the SS... come on man. That's just crazy talk and you know it.

For the record, if we really did have an anarcho-capitalist, totally libertarian society, do you really think there wouldn't be any police? REALLY??? We've had officers walking the beat since Roman times, heck even before that. It's one of the hallmarks of civilization.

there are no good cops btw...do you know why?.....when was the last time you read about a good cop outting a bad cop?...yep...never. Union would boot the good cop for violating the 'blue line'....got it?....meh...doubtful.

Yes its just anecdotal but I have a cop friend and he's really nice guy.

I don't like cops myself, I skated for 20 + years and I always had confrontations with them.

I think the majority of people here that are bitching about cops are just nutty sovereign citizens that think the rules don't apply to them. Most people don't even know what the rules and laws are ... you are always innocent is'nt that right?

That's actually the problem... YOU don't know what the rules and laws are either. Neither do most police. There are too many to even comprehend.

Indeed, corruption and control ARE one of the hallmarks of civilization. GOVERNMENT is one the hallmarks of civilization. Does that make it right?

Oh, and yeah, comparing them to nazis? Yeah, that's just crazy talk because, well, I said so... I never bother to think of why "Just doing their job" doesn't apply equally in both situations. I'm just taking it for granted that, because I'm here and I love my oppression, it must not be anything like nazi Germany, where many Germans also loved their oppressors. Police are Control Enforcers. That is there job To Enforce CONTROL.
