Wait, I thought there's a 2-week window in which the signatures could get challenged... So Im guessing the reason this is unofficial is because these are the candidates who filed all the requirements but not necessarily meet all of the signature challenges. In other words, the state will probably go through these signatures to validate that the voters who signed have a correct information on the sheet that matches their voter registration database, or am I missing something?

Objections to signatures can be (and most likely will be) filed up until February 21st. If he still has 2000 valid signatures after all objections are cleared, then it will be official.

FEBRUARY 21 Last day to file OBJECTIONS
to nomination petitions.

FEBRUARY 22 Day for casting of lots in
the Office of the SECRETARY OF THE
COMMONWEALTH for position of names
upon the primary ballot.

FEBRUARY 24 Last day that may be fixed
by the Court of Common Pleas or the Commonwealth
Court for hearings on objections
that have been fi led to nomination petitions.

FEBRUARY 29 Last day, if possible, for the
Court of Common Pleas or the Commonwealth
Court to render decisions in cases involving
objections to nomination petitions.

FEBRUARY 29 Last day for candidates who
have fi led nomination petitions for the primary
election to withdraw.

My understanding is the State does not verify them unless someone files an objection.
