It's official, I'm the Republican nominee for the special election

Whereas Michigan held a primary for Bentivolio's special election (and he won!), in Kentucky the party nominates the candidate for a special election. Last night, party officials from the 24 counties in my congressional district came together and nominated me as the republican candidate for the special election to be held on the same day as the general election. This was anticipated, but now it's official!

Incidentally, the special election will be conducted in the 24 counties that comprise the old (Pre decennial census redistricting) 4th district whereas the general election will be conducted in the 20 counties that comprise the new 4th congressional district. The old district gave the democrats an 11.5% registration advantage but was rated R+14. The new congressional district reduces the democrats' registration advantage to 4.5%, making this the most republican district in Kentucky. It will be interesting to see how the two simultaneous elections turn out. I will be on the ballot in 7 (mostly democrat) counties where I never campaigned in the primary, and where none of our commercials were ever aired.

Should I win the special election, I go to DC as soon as the board of elections/sec of state certifies the results. There are many contentious issues to settle in the lame duck session. I look forward to serving a few months with Congressman Ron Paul!

Let me be the first Canadian to pre-congratulate you on winning both of your upcoming elections.

I really feel like you are making history, and its something that I feel very happy to be able to witness.

It's kind of like being around for Ben Franklin or something.

Fantastic! to re-cast a popular phrase -- "As goes Kentucky, So Goes The Nation" -- here's hopin'!

Congrats Thomas, glad we have people like you pushing the movement forward!

Congrats! This will help you get your foot in the door.

Looks like you will be receiving some help too, with Steve Stockman, Kerry Bentivolio, and Ted Yoho looking like solid wins, and others may win as well. We already have some pretty decent people in there too, such as Raul Labrador, Paul Broun, Jimmy Duncan, Walter Jones, etc.

Awesome, looking forward to you and Bentivolio both getting in with Ron for his last couple months in office as well as with Amash!

Ron Paul
Justin Amash
Thomas Massie
Kerry Bentivolio
..and the others that we are sort of watching but look very good, such as Yoho and others possibly...

Cheers!
