It looks like Ron Paul supporters are misinterpreting Ron's email

well damn, i guess Ron Paul forum can turn off the lights, close the wall, call the cops, and the gutless quiters can go home and the real Patriots will continue the forum in the parking lot. Call for pizza.

Even if 99% of the effort is going to the delegate fight, what purpose does the announcement serve? Paul has already campaigned in California and Texas. What purpose does this announcement serve other than to signal to voters in those two states that he has given up? Even if you aren't going to campaign much anymore, why announce it? The MSM is ignoring us anyway! Were they afraid the MSM was going to start running articles questioning Pauls' lack of campaigning? To do that, they'd have to acknowledge that he's running in the first place, which would be an improvement over the current situation. And are they really not going to campaign anymore? Ever? At all? Paul lives in Texas. He isn't going to do anything there at all in the run up to the primary? That's insane if true, and if it's not then even less reason to make a comment like that. There is no defending that statement.
Don't hurt yourself jumping to conclusions now...

The email is not hard to interpret. They don't have the cash to spend on campaigning that would be too little without Goldamn Sachs money, so they're going all in to support the delegates, which was the only shot we had at the nomination or influence at the convention anyway.

Based on the polls I've seen, Paul had very little chance of winning any delegates in the primaries in Texas and California. Even if he spent a few million dollars, it wouldn't change that fact. I'm sure the Paul campaign has better intel than that. It's a calculated decision, and it makes sense to me. He made a calculation that getting more Paul delegates in the state convention would be better for the movement long term. Don't forget that the delegates also vote on other party issues at the national convention. I support the Paul campaign decision 100%.

The campaign could have simply said it is NOT suspending its campaign, but is not scheduling more campaign stops in order to concentrate even more on delegate wins. This way the media would not have a figleaf of legitimacy to implicate that Paul was calling it quits. The announcement was not optimally worded, thus the media is running with the spin that 'the campaign is suspended.'

+1

Not many people are complaining about the decision. They're complaining about the announcement of the decision and the tone of it and the ease of which it can be misinterpreted by the media.

Check the front page of Drudge... "Paul Out".... yeh, this email sure was interpreted the way you thought it was. Unless this is the campaigns way of getting us to not get our hopes up because they are giving up... then this email was dumb dumb dumb...

They couldn't do that without a press release making it sound like they gave up?

How about something like, "As our victories in state conventions continue to pile up, it is clear that our delegate focused strategy is working better than we could have ever imagined. In order to take advantage of our success, and provide the grass roots working at the convention level much needed financial and logistical support, the campaign is pleased to announce we will be shifting money and resources towards the individual state delegate battles where the money will have the greatest effect. This is, as it has always been, a grass roots centered campaign and as we enter the final stretch our emphasis will be on doing everything we can to support the grass roots supporters delivering us victory after victory at conventions across the nation. We are in it to win it and look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in Tampa!"

It isn't rocket science. I don't pretend to be a professional campaign consultant, I'm not getting paid, and it took me less than three minutes to jot down something infinitely better than the disastrously stupid statement the pizza guzzling staffers at the National Campaign came up with.

Anyone who still follows what the media says with any bit of belief does not understand how to become a delegate and go vote for Ron Paul in Tampa.

The movement needs everyone, including people who would quit due to today's blunder.

Yep...terrible job at wording that e-mail....UNLESS Ron is being cagey and drawing the spotlight to him to get some free media coverage. We'll know soon enough.

It just LOOKS so weird, though. Hey, we're winning!!!.....let's quit campaigning.

Time to take this lemon and make lemonade, Ron!

I'm talking about this on my show tonight with Julie Borowski. http://bit.ly/IUrhc4
We start at 5 pm EST- the podcast will be up at 7 pm EST

Ron Paul is still in it - his last campaign event was over a week ago and he still won Arizona.

they are just saving money for the GENERAL election campaign........

You think this was not a strategic announcement? HA. We are kicking some arse. All you nay sayers move along and go collect your gov paychex.

Have you noticed who has been winning delegates for the past 3 weeks and who has not?

And I am not talking about the false media show that has no weight.

We are winning the delegate slots, not the delegate vote. Those are very two different things that many in here don't understand. Some of you need to start paying attention a little more.

It's okay people. Take a breather. Some of us knew this was the coming after SC. It was only a matter of time. If we went my route to go Indy, squat on that Party that has no leader and no platform instead of trying to start a war with the GOP hacks and criminals, then we would be posting much different threads today.

“As I reflect on our 2012 Presidential campaign, I am humbled by the supporters who have worked so hard and sacrificed so much. And I am so proud of what we have accomplished. We will not stop until we have restored what once made America the greatest country in human history.

“This campaign fought hard and won electoral success that the talking heads and pundits never thought possible. But, this campaign is also about more than just the 2012 election. It has been part of a quest I began 40 years ago and that so many have joined. It is about the campaign for Liberty, which has taken a tremendous leap forward in this election and will continue to grow stronger in the future until we finally win.

“Our campaign will continue to work in the state convention process. We will continue to take leadership positions, win delegates, and carry a strong message to the Republican National Convention that Liberty is the way of the future.

Moving forward, however, we will no longer spend resources campaigning in primaries in states that have not yet voted. Doing so with any hope of success would take many tens of millions of dollars we simply do not have. I encourage all supporters of Liberty to make sure you get to the polls and make your voices heard, particularly in the local, state, and Congressional elections, where so many defenders of Freedom are fighting and need your support.

“I hope all supporters of Liberty will remain deeply involved – become delegates, win office, and take leadership positions. I will be right there with you. In the coming days, my campaign leadership will lay out to you our delegate strategy and what you can do to help, so please stay tuned.

Sounds like getting all these delegates is what they always told us it was... about influence.

He knew from the start he could never win, so influence is what we've been fighting for the entire time.

I feel like someone has punched me in the stomach. We're going to get our speech, and that's it.

Also everyone saying he's just doing this to deter the softies from going to state conventions so it's easier for us to control...

Why in the world wouldn't this spun announcement from the media not have the same effect on us?

Today was either a serious blunder or a hard truth i'm not yet willing to face.

I'm with OP

we have been dominating the conventions. We can force a brokered convention if we focus our efforts on the delegate strategy and not the primaries. With Romney focusing on Obama and vice versa we can make our move for delegates under the radar at the GRASSROOTS LEVEL... you know, where we dominate. Lets all take a fucking chill pill and become a delegate. Let the media and sheeple think what they want. Were going to show up in Tampa and slap our liberty dicks on their fascist faces.

First I wanted to point out this;

Grassroots Push: Hangout with Ron (WANT MILLIONS ON MAY 17TH?)

If this "chance to hang out with Ron Paul" thing goes off as a good way for people around the globe to gather holding their own kind of rally or party for Ron Paul, he can do a lot of campaigning from his own living room. I'm not sure how the one this Thursday will come off but it should give us a chance to work out bugs and make the party grow. It could also give the Youth for Ron Paul groups that didn't get a chance to have him speak continue with their efforts and have a Hangout.

The second thing and maybe I should have skipped it, but I saw this news flash from Fark when I got home. There are lots of people there that ridicule Ron Paul. Well not just Ron Paul but others in general. I think the key word in that last sentence was lots. Many of them are pretty darn smart and up on the issues. There are also lots of lurkers. If you can stomach reading through some of it maybe you might come across something that is worth using to help bring people together for Ron Paul and the ideals he believes in.

Warning though. Many are experts at debate.

Anyway it is an audience. A chance to practice for, and in, the real world.

The actual story and topic of discussion is at the link next to the headline in the upper left on the fark page.

Good luck.

RON PAUL to suspend campaigning. Will return to his Texas lair to plan his takeover of the GOP convention in Tampa

P.S. I you go over there warning;

Never argue with an idiot ! First they will drag you down to their level, and then beat you with experience.

People used to post things like that all the time there. Another one was if your opponent has resorted to name calling you've already won.

More and more it has become people that open their argument with name calling. Sad.
