It looks like Ron Paul supporters are misinterpreting Ron's email

Ron Paul is focussing his money and effort on getting elected in Tampa and all of the sudden a bunch of Ron Paul supporters act as if it is the end of the world.

We have beat Mitt Romney at state conventions 3 weeks in a row. There is no end in sight of Ron Paul's delegate dominance.

Do you just not understand the delegate process?

We are WINNING!

You do realize that you need 1144 delegates to get nominated right? You do also realize that at this very moment, no one has 1144 yet? The problem here is Ron Paul just said he's not going to fight for the delegates that haven't voted yet. If he isn't out to stop Romney from getting 1144, then what are we really fighting for? A fking speech?

*facepalm*

Man.........Really????? You think we're winning????????????? You think we're going to win the nomination???

He suspended his campaign.

It's literally the same thing Santa did. Santa stopped working on future primaries and helped work with our slates in some state conventions.

OMG, have you followed the conventions updates? Ofcourse we are out to stop Romney. I think it makes perfect sense to quit campaigning and focus on delegates. I've been saying that for months now.

Have you noticed who has been winning delegates for the past 3 weeks and who has not?

And I am not talking about the false media show that has no weight.

And strangely enough, most of those shouting that "the sky is falling" are those who have only been on here a short while.

In the last three weeks we;ve taken quite a few more than Romney. If we keep it up we have a chance.

You are confusing winning the delegate slots with winning delegates. While those Ron Paul supporters will be attending the convention, most of them will be casting a first round ballot for Romney. Take AZ for example, every one of the 29 people from the AZ delegation are bound to vote for Romney on the first ballot.

I'm having to play clean up on the Moneybomb pages.

A lot supporters are disappointed.

The campaign really dropped the ball on getting the message across.

The campaign could have simply said it is NOT suspending its campaign, but is not scheduling more campaign stops in order to concentrate even more on delegate wins. This way the media would not have a figleaf of legitimacy to implicate that Paul was calling it quits. The announcement was not optimally worded, thus the media is running with the spin that 'the campaign is suspended.'

Yeah ok. You run with that. This has been addressed already - it is one sentence out of a letter that was sent to one state in 2008. That state (Utah) had delegates who were bound to Romney, but were then unbound due to Romney dropping out. When you read the quotes from the letter in the original article in which they were cited, the context is apparent. A text without context is a pretext.

But if you want to think that all delegates are unbound even though RNC and state rules explicitly reference binding you are free to do so.

He didn't officially suspend, but he may as well have now that it's hit the top of Drudge.

Even if 99% of the effort is going to the delegate fight, what purpose does the announcement serve? Paul has already campaigned in California and Texas. What purpose does this announcement serve other than to signal to voters in those two states that he has given up? Even if you aren't going to campaign much anymore, why announce it? The MSM is ignoring us anyway! Were they afraid the MSM was going to start running articles questioning Pauls' lack of campaigning? To do that, they'd have to acknowledge that he's running in the first place, which would be an improvement over the current situation. And are they really not going to campaign anymore? Ever? At all? Paul lives in Texas. He isn't going to do anything there at all in the run up to the primary? That's insane if true, and if it's not then even less reason to make a comment like that. There is no defending that statement.
