Considering the comments and drop in readership, it appears that at least 50% of the posters here were actually Cruz trolls and another 25% were Bernie or Dem trolls. This explains the popularity of the negative threads...too bad there was no way to weed these people out. I came here as a Rand supporter and it was a shock to read all of the negative comments written by people who were supposedly supporters. Now, I know that they never were. Too bad it too Rand dropping out to discover this.

I think Ron Paul brought a lot of independent minded people together. I think the buffet choice of every kind of candidate made us spread too thin. That's the best way to stop an army.

I don't think so.
Apathy can be a temporary mechanism to process disapointment.
Personally, I've been a bit apathetic as of late.
It doesn't mean I don't still support Rand Paul or liberty issues.
Quite the opposite.

A drop in readership following Rand's departure is no surprise.

But you're certainly right that the forum's been (and is, and will continue to be) infested with non-libertarians shilling for other candidates.

Cruz might have somewhat in common with ron and rand, somewhat, with policies. But you cannot forget this is just a stab in the back. You have the pauls endorse cruz in 2012 only for cruz to co opt everything. Who needs enemies when you have a friend like cruz.

I think and a lot here think that rubio will be the winner. Useless supporting cruz since it will be rubio. Interesting how gop forgot rubio is prettt much for amnesty before he went off the radar.

I would not consider myself a Cruz "supporter". More like just a voter. Now that Rand is out, I will vote for Cruz, but will make no effort to defend him, won't donate to him or make any effort at all pretty much.

I think those numbers are a little high but yes, there are many Cruz and Sanders' trolls.

They are now cumulatively holding a circle jerk because Rand has dropped out and they mistakenly think that we will throw our support behind one of their clowns.

Theyre wrong.

Everyone besides Rand is shit.

Up until last week there were 4 or 5 people making the bulk of the sock puppet accounts. For whatever reason, they have an axe to grind against Rand, the 2008,2012,2016 campaign staff, or someone on the mod/admin staff here at RPFs. A couple of them are well known members in the tank for Cruz. There were another few who make posts on certain topics with the intention of drawing out the bigots to make posts that could be associated with Ron and Rand, possibly the GOP brand in general.

Another group of members who supported Ron but not Rand who had the decency to not post in the Rand forum while the campaign was going on, they have been coming in to vent a little about it, and to let people know how they were right about whatever they were saying 4 years ago.

There are a number of legitimately new members coming to try and sell their guy (and they do make more sock puppets), they are also on the other Rand boards doing the same, and getting similar results to what they are getting here. Mostly Cruz and Sanders, some Trumps. It is very reminiscent of the Gary supporters doing the same after some of the worst days of the Ron 2012 campaign.

But I would say the bulk of the activity in here over the last 9 months are people who don't spend as much time on RPF as they might have done 4-8 years ago, they don't follow Rand's campaigns as closely as they followed Ron's campaigns, but on big nights like debate nights, they come in and catch up on it.

Actually, what it was was that he didn't pass the purity test for some around here. They are looking for the 2nd coming of Ron Paul.

Numbers are too high. It's an extremely vocal minority that won't stop pushing their candidate or running their fingers.

OP's like this wouldn't occur if most of us were voting LP or staying home like the feel was last time via Ron. People just don't want Hillary as the newest shithead in the House cuz she's so bad and they're considering Cruz or Trump because of that. I got nothing else on this.

I would have to agree that 50% are brain-dead zombies that watch Faux Nooz.

For everybody that criticizes Rand because he should have done it this way or that way - how bout you run for congress and do what you feel is best?

and then when you meet with defeat (always happens at some point) listen to all the armchair warriors who said coulda woulda shoulda..

if you can do better than Rand than go ahead - and if not, then try and be a little more empathic

It doesn't help that some of us who are sympathetic to Cruz's cause got banned...

The writing was on the wall long ago. Several of us went to Cruz for one purpose. To stop Trump. I feel like there are a lot of Cruz people in the liberty movement who still like Rand, and I would be careful about alienating them. There are many elections after 2016 that we need to win together.

I just look at the sign up date, I think the 07/08 people were genuine for Ron Paul, the trolls were outed long ago, 15/16 up sign I question if they are pulling for Cruz all along.
But the collation is breaking up, just look at the vote of RPF there is people breaking for Sanders and Trump now.
Cruz dirty tricks are enough for me to know what he stands for,Trump called him nasty for a reason and this time he was right.

The Ron Paul movement was truly unique I think the way things are being splintered up this round, just proves that point.
I actually think we might have gone backwards to before 08 politically now, and that is very sad.

I think the supporters of Ron Paul have been made apathetic again, I mean how many times can a person get burned by the process before they give up.
As an 07 er said they won't even be voting and they gave up on a corrupt political process, the 2012 primary was such a shame and humiliation right into the GOP convention that it could make anybody say %^&* it.
