Kind of makes me wonder if Trump realized how unpopular this was with his base and suddenly had to 'declare peace.'

What do you mean? He hit the enrichment facilities and communicated the US red lines on nuclear weapons programs globally.
Nuclear programs were on the march globally after Russia invaded Ukraine and threatened nuclear weapons.
Nobody wants to get nuked so countries were in the works to develop nuclear weapons in all of the world.
Trump even deployed the marines to LA because they have the biggest Iranian population as a show of force so that they wouldn't riot against the bombing of their nuclear weapons program in Iran.
I think all of the anti war people are anti nuclear war too and many understand that even Massie said he might withdraw his war powers objections if the ceasefire holds.

I mean, the strikes on Iran were unpopular with his base. The vast majority of social media that I follow were echoing the same sentiment: "This isn't MAGA." And it isn't. It's being Bibi's b*tch. This nuclear program which has been 'weeks away from completing development' for the last 2+ decades suddenly got very convenient intel that it was moments away from completion. And, Americans, with a memory span of all the goldfish in the bowl combined, forgot all about the alleged existence of WMDs being the most convenient way to dupe people into a war.
The most MAGA thing Trump has done since the strike is denounce both sides for being idiots. Americans love that. They love that alpha male, "daddy's home" attitude.
I still believe Trump's primary motivator is his ego-fueled quest to build a legacy for himself. He can't do that if he starts more crap in the Middle East. It would do nothing to set him apart from every other president we've had in recent history.

Trump has been CONSISTENTLY saying Iran can't have a nuclear weapon.
His voters know that is his policy. They even reelected Trump after he drone striked the Iranian IRGC commander of the Quds force.
Just because you see a lot of stuff on social media doesnt mean its real. Twitter isn't real life.
After Rand Paul got attacked by his neighbor all of my social media feeds made jokes about it and said they wished his neighbor would have finished the job.
That doesn't mean the whole country wants Rand Paul dead.
The internet is a small vocal minority of the population.
Most Americans that understand the idea of not wanting to have a nuclear war dont want people to have nuclear weapons to use against us. The people didnt like the 9/11 attacks and they definitely dont want those people to have nuclear weapons to use against us.
