Israel strikes Iran

My standards for evidence regarding WMD claims have gotten a bit higher than the days when all it took was Colin Powell going to the UN with a vial of anthrax from our own country's storage and saying, 'well, they probably have something like this, maybe, possibly.'

And if the loudest claimant that Iran was moments away from getting nukes is . . . Israel, who got in over-its-head with a bombardment war with Iran and expects the USA to bail them out, I'd appreciate a second opinion. I'm just that skeptical.

I don't see any reason to dispute the claim that Iran was getting close to a nuke. Getting "close" to a nuke has been their official/un-official policy for many years. Iran's position is that they are "peacefully" enriching towards weapons grade to act as a deterrent. Meaning, that "if you attack us, we're super close to building a nuke and we can then very quickly build a nuke and attack you back".

This is all public record.

And it's not in dispute either that Iran was enriching to 60% - far beyond what is required for economic use (~3%).

Given that level of enrichment, it's entirely plausible that Iran could have built a nuclear weapon within weeks, if not days. Whether they would have followed through on completing a nuclear weapon is a different story, but only in fantasy unicorn land would anyone think that the United Goddamn States would let them fuck around with those kind of games.
