Islam a threat?

Give them something better to do -- like doing business, trading, making money, raising children. We have not tried that for almost 100 years.

Education is the key. Most of these radicals are single and from region that is bombarded heavily by us. Look at Palestine. Imagine if they were going to school, getting a degree and have goals in life such a director, doctor, writer etc. Their minds are not occupied and thats why they go in the wrong direction. We need to stop Bullying people and you will see end to all the hatred.

I'll repeat what I've said before:

Why do people assume that they hate us because we watch wrestling and MTV?
Do they hate Australians, New Zealanders, and Japanese?
Do they hate the Koreans?
Do they hate the Russians?
Do they hate the Swiss?
Do they hate the Swedish?
Do they hate the Irish?
Do they hate South Africans?
Do they hate the fine people from New Guinea?

The answer is right in front of them. They hate us because we are in their backyard.

With regards to the Iraqis, this holds true:

If you had a houseguest that overstayed their welcome, made a mess of your bathroom, stank up the place, went to bed late thereby keeping you up late, ate all your food, BUT did bring cool toys for the kids, wouldn't you want them gone?
I mean "just leave, I'll clean up."

I had a neighbor that played his bongo drums at 2AM.
I called the cops a couple of times after face to face didn't work but that didn't really work either.
I did want the guy to stop playing at the wee hours of night to the point I wanted to take his drums away.
I moved (bongo drums not the reason) and somehow I do not wish for the guy to NOT have his drums; it isn't a problem for me anymore.

so true. In fact until the afghanistan and iraq wars we were their only target. Spain provided troops for iraq and they got bombed, so did the UK, there were threats against australia. I mean its so obvious, as soon as you attacking and occupying a people, they're gonna respond in some way or the other. simply thinking that they're attacking us 'cause we're good and free is so naive.

they never do anything to countries like sweden, switzerland, norway, germany, s.east asian countries because these countries just mind their own business.

Islam is scarcely more dangerous than any other close-minded mysticism, aka. religion.

Radical Islam is extremely dangerous. However, I'm fine with pulling out of the mid-east. European nations will have to be the one's to deal with it in the future. Oh, of course African and Asian nations. They're all going to have a hell of a time in the future with brutal seperatists movements.

In the meantime, if they strike us while we practice a non-interventionist policy...make an example.

Islamic expansionism was a dead idea until the U.S. re-created it then pumped it up in Afghanistan by supporting the Mujahideen against the Soviets. Then the U.S. lead invasion of Iraq during the Gulf War gave a small number of these a new cause. Events since then, such as starving out the Iraqis has given them more momentum which has been accelerated by further U.S. aggression. Remove the aggression and you remove the motivation and the support. Even Iran was becoming more "democratic" and open to the west before Bush put them on his "axis of evil" play list. The past seven years in particular (though the previous eight wasn't much better) has been a total disaster for the U.S., the middle east and the entire world.

IOW, you don't put out fire with gasoline.

There are crazy people in every country and every race and every religion. Our FBI headquarters was blown up by some crazy white dude living in a shack. The Japanese had nerve gas pumped into thier subway system by a cult. With six billion people on the planet, some of them are going to be crazy and violent.

The question is this: do you let some wackos hiding out in some mountains halfway around the world determine how you are going to live your life and what your country stands for? That seems crazy as hell to me.

Right now Osama Bin Laden is running our foriegn policy. He stated that there were two main goals to Sept. 11th. The first was to destabilize the regimes in the middle east and radicalize the populace so that they could overthrow the governments. The second was to bankrupt the United States.

The first is working swimingly. Nearly all moderate regimes in the middle east are on the ropes. Pakistan, a country with nuclear weapons, is falling apart. The Saudis have been weakened. The reformers in Iran completely sidelined. Iraq is a power vacuum waiting to blow up.

On top of that, Osama Bin Laden is swarming with recruits. If you study terrorism, you realize that the number one correlation for terrorism is occupation. Occupation is a much greater indicator of terrorism that race, religion, or geography. The worst country in the world for terrorism is Sri Lanka, and it has to do with occupation. These wars make our enemies stronger.

His second goal of bankrupting America is working quite well. You can look into this on your own but I think by now everyone recognizes we are in big trouble.

Our foriegn policy isn't working, it only makes things worse. In addition, I think the thing we need to realize as a nation is that nobody can guaratee you 100% safety. It is impossible. Killing is far too easy. It's a given that we will take all the measures we can to try to protect ourselves and stop these people. The question is whether we choose to let fear of these wackos decide what our foriegn policy is going to be.

well you have Islamo-fascists and you have Judeo-fascists according to what personality you have. If you are of a psychopathic disposition you will be attracted to either extreme of the scale. Most of us fortunately are middle of the roaders. However sanctification of violence in 'sacred texts' by a pathological and terrifying diety...(don't deny it...the Bible, the Koran and the Talmud are riddled with annihilation reward and punishment scenarios) don't do the human race any favours whasoever.
Then you get a government who comes along and plays on the fear of 'other:'

"Restrictions on personal liberty, on the right of free expression of opinion, including freedom of the press; on the rights of assembly and associations; and violations of the privacy of postal, telegraphic, and telephonic communications and warrants for house searches, orders for confiscations as well as restrictions on property, are also permissible beyond the legal limits otherwise prescribed."

Ring any bells? Clinton? Bush?

No. It's from Hitler's 1933 speech calling for "an Enabling Act" for "the protection of the People and the State" after the Reichstag fire that the Nazis had secretly lit!

Dear God Let it Rain Brain (this was graffitied on the Berlin wall)

Yep, this is right. Education is the solution to all this. But first, we have to lead by example so that the radicals claims aren't actually true.

Think about the KKK. They preach and spread hatred based on stereotypes. There are many groups that do. But when they have to interact with those that they "hate" and realize they are people too, many of those biased beliefs are softened.

Will the 2 groups ever become "buddy-buddy"? No. But they learn to live with one another instead of trying to kill or harm one another. It is only when the steroetypes and biases are perpetuated with real acts that the hatred gets to the level where malicious action is taken.

Hey all,
I see everyone dancing around it.................

I try to research issues fairly well before I form an opinion, and I remembered that I had put back some vintage clips here and there..........

If we REALLY want to know why they hate us so badly, just ask them....

No second guessing, no he said/she said,.......just point blank.

For what it's worth...............

[Bin Laden believes that what we consider to be terrorism is just the amount of violence required to get the attention of the American people. His aim is to get Americans to consider whether continued support of Israel is worth the bloodshed he promises.
"So we tell the Americans as people," bin Laden said softly, "and we tell the mothers of soldiers and American mothers in general that if they value their lives and the lives of their children, to find a nationalistic government that will look after their interests and not the interests of the Jews. The continuation of tyranny will bring the fight to America, as Ramzi Yousef and others did. This is my message to the American people: to look for a serious government that looks out for their interests and does not attack others, their lands, or their honor. And my word to American journalists is not to ask why we did that but ask what their government has done that forced us to defend ourselves." -----(excerpt from ABC's John Miller in a May 1998 mountaintop interview with Osama Bin Laden) ]

...............I think reducing our foreign oil usage could limit the funding of these people, but what other answer is there to this?

Two things-

STOP selling them weapons.

Remove any moslem from North America who is not a Citizen. Ban further moslem immigration. Punish with deportation any nominal moslem citizen who refuses to publically renounce sharia and jihad.

The Government of Saudi Arabia funds most of the mosques in the USA with oil money. They promote the most extreme branch of Islam Wahabisim.
Too bad they own enough of our economy to crash it if they were to pull out.
Too bad we never made a true effort to develop alternative energy.
Too bad Americans insist on driving gas guzzling SUV's. Every time you fill up
your pig you contribute to it.
Too bad the Saudis fund the extreme Madrasas in Pakistan, to help prevent a pipeline from the Caspian Sea.
Too bad our President is in bed with the most dangerous religious cult on earth, holding the most valuable natural resource in history.

Punish with deportation any nominal moslem citizen who refuses to publically renounce sharia and jihad.

Excuse me? But don't you realize that is a violation of a Muslim's constitutional rights? You are asking us to denounce our religion. I'm sorry, but the government has no right to do that.

And no, you can't "deport" us native born citizens either.

My wife and I are enthusiastic Ron Paul supports who strongly agree with his positions.
We do have a concern.
There is a group of Muslims who do believe that the entire world needs to be under Sharia law.
We can see this happening in Africa and countries like Indonesia, and the Philipines. Europe seems to also be having trouble with this.

I think reducing our foreign oil usage could limit the funding of these people, but what other answer is there to this?
I think the real threat would be poverty and poor education, when people are ignorants when people are in true poverty they become an easy meat to the lions of any radical group either it is Muslim or Christian group, that is why the best fight should be headed toward Education and against poverty

Simply untrue. Do you think the 911 terrorists were poor and uneducated? The poor and uneducated are too busy trying to fill their mouths with food to have the luxury of being terrorists.

If you're concerned about Islam you should be concerned about the Christians and the Jews.

Both have doctrines that expect a "world ruler" belonging to their group.

NWO anyone?

Even the radical atheists are really anti-theists and seem intent on converting everyone to anti-theism.

The only safe ones so far seem to be the Buddhists.

There are a small group of Christians who believe the world should be ruled by Christian law. (I am a Christian, but do not believe this)

There are a small group of racists who believe the world should be divided according to race.

There are a small group of anarchists who think there should be no government whatsoever.

There are a small group of nazis who think the world should be ruled by fascism.

There is a large, very large, very, very, very large group who believes in none of the above.

Simply untrue. Do you think the 911 terrorists were poor and uneducated? The poor and uneducated are too busy trying to fill their mouths with food to have the luxury of being terrorists.
Simply they might not be poor but also simply they are not well educated, because their education and the core of their studies is built on hatred, that is exactly what they were taught in schools, that they are right and the rest should be thrown in fire. And why you take this as an example, why not the Iraqi nation (poor education + poverty), Sudan(poor education+poverty) and Somalia the same thing, Pakistan the same thing and Afghanistan is worse!
