Is Ted Cruz Going To Run for President?

I hope not.

If Ted Cruz has the slightest bit of liberty mindedness at all, he should back Rand. But he doesn't, so he won't.

He announced he will renounce any Canadian citizenship. Why would he do that if he isn't planning a run? I think some pac is funding a Draft Ted Cruz campaign (speculating). His actions indicate something is in the works.

I don't think he's going to run, he might play with the idea but I'll be honestly surprised if he does.

I think that Cruz is actually in cahoots with Rand, and all this is running interference/trolling the media.
If Cruz is the "frontrunner" then Rand can swoop in after the midterms and take the lead. The media will be all about Cruz and not Rand, meanwhile Cruz will be getting the liberty message out there, paving the road for Rand 2016.

From a WT article

“I think Cruz is in and he is serious and he is going to be a tough out,” said Mike McKenna, a Republican strategist. “He is going to be the disruptive force in 2016. Cruz is the 2016 wild card now.”

“Behind the scenes, Cruz is in the process of positioning himself as a viable 2016 presidential contender, and he wants to crush any lingering doubts about his citizenship and eligibility for the White House among the GOP primary faithful,” said Ford O'Connell, a Republican strategist.

Mr. Cruz is scheduled to headline a Republican fundraiser this week in New Hampshire, where tickets are being sold for at least $100 per person and $750 for VIP couples.

He is visiting the state that holds the first-in-the-nation presidential primary, two weeks after his second trip to Iowa, home to the caucuses that kick off the Republican nomination contests. The trips add to speculation that Mr. Cruz is eyeing the White House, as well as further proof that the freshman senator has become a big national draw.

“It usually takes years for someone to generate the kind of enthusiasm that Ted Cruz has built up over just the last few months,” said Kevin Madden, a Republican strategist who served as an adviser to Mitt Romney, the party’s 2012 presidential nominee. “If he chooses to go in that direction, he will be a force to be reckoned with inside a GOP primary process.”

If both run for the nomination, whomever withdraws first will endorse the other. I can almost guarantee that. You repeatedly try and create a rift between the two that does not exist in the real world.

Drudge has a piece saying that Cruz is renouncing his Canadian citizenship. Hell yes he's running.

There may not be a rift between them...and that to many of us is the saddest part.

Ted Cruz ultimately cannot be trusted as a liberty candidate, because of 1) his equivocation on Rand (which is bad, considering Rand's liberty stance is watered down from Ron's), 2) his foreign policy stance, which tends to patronize the usual culprits, 3) his non-natural born citizen status (as per the Constitution, he cannot run for President) and phony verbal 'renounciation' of his Canadian citizenship (he has to do so by formal application, not a press conference), and 4) his wife's Goldman Sachs/CFR connections:

If that's the case, Rand Paul is an idiot. Considering how well he's planned so far, I hope he's planned how to deal with Cruz as well when the time comes.

Well, there's no rift between Ron and Rand either, does that make you sad as well, considering?

If you look at what Rand says and what he does, he's clearly a lot better than Cruz. He may not outright attack him, but you can tell the differences. Rand has never tried to provoke Syria or Iran, for instance. He's voted for the sanctions everyone else voted for, and I'm not a fan of that, but he never tried to provoke them. Ted Cruz definitely wants to intervene in Syria, and said Iran is "The greatest security threat."

How any liberty minded person could like Ted Cruz, I don't know. I think its because they put the economy above innocent men and women being murdered in wars. Does Ted Cruz even openly oppose the Fed?

I can understand the Rand Paul skepticism, but at least he's an actual liberty candidate rather than a pseudo-liberty candidate who is a warmongerer in reality.

Or perhaps, he realizes that likeminded people can have slight differences on FP positions. You really need to educate yourself on the various FP positions, because you seem to hold a mindset that everyone who is not a Jeffersonian in the strictest sense is a "warmonger" and a "Neo-con".

Rand Paul is as far as I will compromise, no farther. I will vote for Rand in 2016 if he makes it to November...if Ted Cruz is the GOP nominee, I will choose some other option.

No, I think people who support foreign wars are warmongerers.

And I don't compromise regarding the shedding of innocent blood. That Rand might is the sad part.

Yep.

If Rand Paul becomes president and doesn't stop overseas drone bombings and our intervention there, I will do EVERYTHING in my power to speak out against him and bring down his presidency.
