Is Obama running unopposed? Why don't we have a liberty candidate running democrat?

I don't understand what a liberty-minded Democrat would be. Democrats are for welfare, which seems to be the opposite of liberty. I can see them being partial-pro-liberty, such as legalizing drugs and such, but beyond that, I don't know how that would work.

Is there a democrat that is liberty minded? When I hear the word democrat, I think socialist. If there is please point him or her out to me, I would be fascinated.

Considering the fact that all other "mainstream" candidates and the president are corporatists, I would say a real socialist like Dennis Kucinich gaining traction in the Democratic side would be a good thing.

Anything is better than a corporatist (or fascist).

Many would say the same thing about Republicans before they discovered Ron Paul. In a free society, shouldn't all our politicians be liberty minded? If we have to choose between a hard fascist (R) or soft fascist (D), are we really free?

Just as Ron Paul has reclaimed the Republican Party, the Democrats need to root out their fascist leaders, too.

Imagine a debate between Obama and Kucinich.

maybe we could get this guy to debate obama:

Why did you think he was running unopposed? I mean sure, there aren't 30 Democrats running, like there are 30 GOPers running, but 20 Democrats is still quite a bit. That's just in NH.

Well, my main concern was making sure there were going to be democratic debates. Small time candidates won't get into debates.

Why would you want to push this? It would reduce the # of democrats who vote in the Republican primary.

Ralph Nader was hinting at it. He is at least out to end the corp bailouts and against the wars.

Words that can be used in the same sentence ; scumbag , thief , socialist , communist etc

Liberty and Democrat cannot be used in the same sentence . One beer penalty :)

I won't be pushing this at all because of the election. But I do want to point out that the Republican, Libertarian, or Constitution Parties do not hold a monopoly on Liberty. We need all people on the side of Liberty regardless of what they call themselves.

You are correct .

I can't think of a liberty democrat that would gain enough traction to reasonably call for a debate and be granted that request.

That said, I do think we should support liberty democrats for Congress.

There are enough Democrats out there who are Ron Paul supporters, and enough tea party Democrats as well to make it worth our while to field such candidates over the mid to long term, and establish a beachhead in the Democratic universe. A slate of liberty issues, and a "primary 'em" TP attitude should be enough to make waves and pressure the entire big party establishment in a liberty direction.

We really should be doing this. There must be some left-libertarians who can run as Democrats.
