I just hope that this wasn't NH observers filling in a few ballots...
Add, we're getting screwed in Portland.
Do I hear a can of whoopass being opened ?John Zebley
So after waiting for about an hour and a half for them to announce the elected delegates in Portland, they claimed there was a discrepancy of 19 ballots at my caucus. This prevents them from announcing the delegates in Portland and also prevents us from electing a Delegate Chair. Seeing as how an overwhelming majority of those who showed up to be delegates were obvious RP supporters it's not hard to see what happening. NOT impressed
Could you post them by chance? I'm not on Facebook and have no desire to be on there.

Just got back from the Portland caucus. After waiting in that hot gymnasium for hours and hours, we were told that the was a discrepancy in the vote count FOR DELEGATES ONLY. To summarize, each voter was given an index card when arriving at the location and this card had to be handed in in order to receive a delegate voting ballot. Apparently, they counted 19 MORE ballots than index cards collected. They then announced they had to discuss the logistics with the State GOP, but the delegates and delegate chair would not be awarded at the caucus -- most likely through the mail in the coming weeks. The Paul camp was very organized IMO making sure that they had up-to-date contact info for all of us who stuck around.
This did NOT invalidate the results of the straw poll (I believe).
A quick eye test says that the straw poll was probably a toss up between Paul and Romney, but I think we were in a good position to take a majority of the delegates. I'm sure the Campaign will have a say to ensure whatever process the State GOP has in place to re-do the delegate process is legit. I hope.
I am sure the back up plan is to let the party execs deal with it. That is HUGE as that is a huge caucus. A split caucus would be fine, because Ron did so well elsewhere, but if they skew that huge caucus they can very possibly turn the whole state.
It is things like this that make me glad Ron didn't entirely rule out third party. If they shaft him, I'm all for it. If they want him to not hurt the party, the party has to treat him fairly.
Talked to my friend in Maine an hour ago. He's in Portland and Romney spoke at his caucus of a few hundred people. He said the room was pretty evenly split between Romney and Paul supporters with maybe Paul having a slight advantage. He said his dad was reluctant on getting up early this morning but my friend (24 years old) dragged him out of bed.
The best news: Every Romney supporter left after the straw vote, Paul carried every last delegate.
